My guess is that Microsoft wanted a timed exclusive, and Harmonix didn't have enough time to get all the songs done, so they held out 20 songs while Microsoft paid them some pretty decent coin. So when the PS3 and Wii versions release this month, I'm guessing that'll be right around the time the 20 free songs show up. We'll know for sure if we find out the songs will be on the disc for the PS3 and Wii versions.

I think it is just going to be 20 crap bonus songs. From what you are saying, you think they might be regular songs that didn't get on in time. I do agree that would be awesome though. I hope these 20 songs are worthwile.

Oh, don't get me wrong. If I'm right, I'm sure it was the 20 crappiest songs they could've cut, maybe even the "bonus" songs that are always the crap from the developers that worked on the game who have bands of their own.

I'm pretty sure they are the 20 bonus songs from harmonix house bands and bands with connections to harmonix... I expect to see Freezepop, Honest Bob, etc... just like every harmonix game. I expected that from the beginning though so that isn't a let down to me. The only thing that I don't like is that some of the main 84 songs were bands that are normally bonus tracks... like Bang Camero (I like them, but they are still bonus track material, not main set list), that handsome devil, Breaking Wheel, Anarchy Club, etc.

Don't expect any big names in the 20 bonus songs. I was suprised to see Tribe in the bonus tracks last time, not that they are a big band but they were one I'd actually heard of at least. Maybe they'll get another track this time.. I Liked their song in RB1.

So my RB drums finally broke for good (yellow pad cracked). I managed a half-ass fix them, but the consistency is definitely off.

Does anyone have any information of if/how the GH drums will work in RB2? I know the RB2 drums will get "dumbed-down" for GH, but how will it work the other way around? Maybe I should just get the RB2 drum kit?

I've looked around for information but nothing solid is out, I guess because GHWT isn't even out yet.

Check the Joystiq compatibility matrix but as far as I know both kits will work on both games.

If you can't wait, just get the RB2 kit. It's leagues better than the first and well worth it.

Didnt some Tribe members actually work on the game itself? I recall reading something to that affect.

Finally got my XBox back from my RROD fix (a week turnaround from ship to receive back, and it was my same console) - oh how I missed Rock Band!

Anyone get the RB2 drum set? I'm almost bent on buying it, especially with the cymbal add-on. I'm curious as to how drastic the noise difference is and whatnot.

I should really wait for the GHWT stuff to come out, but the drums aren't going to be sold separately initially and I'm not down for buying the whole setup.

I tested the RB2 drumset in store. It was much quieter that the original and the new pedal felt much less flimsy but not really a drastic improvement. Not enough to make me buy it while mine still work at least. I bought some covers to quite my RB1 set down. Actually they're to replace the ones I made since I beat those to death a few weekends back after having one too many beverages.

I did buy the new guitar and overall I like it better mostly because of wireless.

Are the RB2 drums more quiet than the RB1 drums with the pads? I have the foam + felt on my RB1 set and everyone loves how much better they sound than without them. But they've taken a beating as well and I don't want to replace them (plus my yellow pad broke a bit).

I have RB1 with foam/felt mod and RB2 drums and I think they are about the same. I dunno db wise but the RB2 drums are excellent and I'm not needing to mod them to make them more quiet. Mine also do not drop notes ever. I could be lucky though. I have heard of some people having crosstalk.

My pads were made out of two slices of foam which worked really well until that one night. I think the RB1 with my pads is/was quieter than the RB2 set. RB2 set is definetely way better than the RB1 set but two layers of foam is tough to beat.

I just ordered the official set of pads last night so I don't know how they compare yet. I didn't feel like wasting anymore time on creating new ones that I would probably destroy again.

No comments after is came out yesterday for the PS3?

I cant find a decent setting for the lag.....If the guitar is good ... the drums are bad ...drums good, guitar bad....

Other than that it seems pretty good.

Anyone know how to import tracks from RB1? I have the patch ... but see no option anywhere to import.

The option to import RB 1 songs is found on the RB 1 disc.

I'm confused as to why if the timing is good on guitar, how it would be bad for drums? All the lag compensates for it video and audio delay, so once it's set properly it'll stay the same regardless of instrument used. If it's delaying on drums or guitar then that points to one the inputs lagging, which the game can't compensate for. Sounds like one of your instruments isn't working 100%.

I picked it up yesterday for the PS3 and I agree the calibration sucks! My wife can't find a setting that suits her playing and I swear I must have calibrated it 15 times before I got it playable.

I think it's a plot to force everybody to buy new guitars for the autocalibration features

Mine work fine, I don't know where the other problems are coming from.

I have wireless guitars and wired drums. The wireless guitars naturally have a little lag that the wired drums do not have. It's not much, but it's noticeable.

Right, but don't the wireless guitars have their own lag settings to take care of this?

LOL @ myself. Today I decided to check out what the 20 free songs were going to be so I load up google.com and do a search and this site comes up http://www.addictedgamer.net/2...-free-dlc-leaked-list/ I'm like WOW thats one hell of a list. I check the date on the article and it says August 28th, 2008 so I figure that it would change but I was happy for a little bit. I'm all for giving underground or no name bands a break but I thought there would be a few songs that I would've heard of.

wow, Between the Buried and Me has a song on that list -- that is some heavy, heavy shit. I like discovering new music, so I don't mind seeing mostly unknown artists on the list.

They've had really heavy shit on RB for a while now. Machinehead and DevilDriver are both available.
