That's also why Caldwell has managed to get 2 HC positions. In both cases, management wanted someone they could control (Polian in Indy, Mayhew in Detroit). Caldwell is probably OK with Xs and Os, but he can't adjust and definitely can't win unless he has a team loaded with talent. The Colts went to the Super Bowl in spite of him, not because of him. Manning was that team's coach.
