Why is Wade Phillips always considered the greatest defensive coach! on teams that give up 24-35 points but always score 30-40 points?

I don't fucking get it. lol--remember when he was coaching the Cowgirls a few years ago? lulz

Rams are damn legit, though. They've been working on it for a good 5 years now, and now it is set. Book them.

As a Bills fan... Wade Phillips is an absolute moron, but man he can coach defense...

I have Goff on my fantasy bench
At least Brees should still do pretty well.

I just remembered that I have a fucking wedding to go to Sunday night. I have to leave for it at 4pm and I'm guessing it goes until at least 10pm probably 11pm. I really hope they have a TV somewhere so I can catch some of the Ravens/Steelers game, and damnit, I'm going to miss all 4 oclock games. Thankfully the Redskins are on bye though.

I would unfriend/disown whoever decides to get married on a Sunday during football season lol.

I know man wtf. My good friend did it last year but at least he did it when the Redskins played the Chiefs on SNF, and his wedding was at 3pm and only went to like 10pm. And it was at a place that had a TV with the game on, and ended right around half time. So I still got to see a lot of it, and then watch Doctson drop a touchdown pass that cost them the game.

Trust me, he got A LOT of shit from all of us.

^Not much a defensive player can do anything about it now. It really sucks. The league really needs to take it back a notch in terms of babying the QB.

Wow, Colts/Texans game went to OT, Colts got 1st possession and kicked a FG, Texans went down and kicked a FG then the Colts faced a 4th/4 at about midfield when their HC decided he'd go for it with :38 left in OT. Lucks pass hit the ground incomplete, Texans then tossed a screen that went for 24yds and then kicked the winning FG. Dumb idea, this decision will be a head-scratcher for some time to come, sure, no one likes (yet another) tie, but if you don't convert your almost giving the game away.

Lol Lions, lol Fitz-tragic getting benched. Finally, and I mean finally tragic woke up and remembered who we really was.

Lions looked bad on defense really, giving up long drives and getting gutted by Zeke. Its like the perfect antidote to curing droughts on offense and/or defense is to play the Lions. It happens all the time, year in and year out.

Lots of respect here for the Titans, they have zero house-hold names but they are a scrappy lot, last week winning in Jacksonville and today besting the Eagles, not too shabby!.

browns got robbed

still more fun to watch than the usual blowouts though
I'm not a fan of reviewing the spot, but at least he Browns are playing hard and with convection, Mayfeild will only get better as he accumulates more starts. Ravens just upset the Steelers IN Pittsburgh, and now with the deadline passed Le'veon Bell cannot even be offered the long term contract he wants. Seattle's Earl Thomas had a broken leg today and it looks to be season ending. Thomas was taken out in the cart as he gave the Seattle bench the finger along the way. He also wanted to renegotiate his contract and held out until the last possible day.

That's a damned if you, damned if you don't situation for the coach though. If you make that call and pull it off, it looks like you had confidence in your team to do what was needed and knew it was possible. If you don't pull it off, people question if it was a good call. If you decide to punt, you aren't playing to win and don't have confidence in your group...

Yea, I can see it from that angle too.

Holy smoke is this kid Mahones good, I've NEVER seen this kind of accuracy running out of the pocket, just drove KC down for 2 TD's in the 4th Qtr to take the lead. On one play he switched to his left hand to lob it 6yds for a 1st down with Von Miller closing, within inches!.

He's the real deal. That left hand throw was clutch AF.
He is. The rest of his team (except for a RB or two) isn't. He more than made up for offensively offensive penalties.

But I blame the Broncos' coaches for the loss. They were still leading and didn't run the ball. On defense they had like 2nd and 30 and didn't force a checkdown throw with zone coverage.

Officiating didn't help either, again. They missed a delay of game, and apparently should have called a KC RB for lowering the head.

This is the type of stuff we've been seeing the moment he played (in preseason last year). I have been tempered on here because I don't want to get too insufferable about it. He has "it" that extra aspect that great QBs have. And its why they ditched Alex Smith because while Smith works his ass off and can play well when he's on a solid team with good playcalling, he just doesn't have "it".

Mahomes is awesome, but WTF at the rest. They had just as many if not more penalties in their first games (when they were putting up points like crazy). This squad made Alex Smith look like a beast, so its not like the rest of the team is crap. I mean, I take it you haven't heard of Travis Kelce? (You know, one of if not the best TEs in the NFL, I think Witten might've even said that during the game) I assume by "RB or two" you mean Hunt and Hill (the latter is a WR by the way). And Sammy Watkins (quite a few people seem down on him, but he's made a bunch of plays for the Chiefs). O-line is ok (and Schwartz, the RT, has owned Von Miller like the past like 4 games, I don't think Miller has a sack against the Chiefs in the past 4 games, somewhat impressive don't you think?). The defense has been playing like shit, but they have talent. They're missing Eric Berry badly. They traded Marcus Peters (because he was doing stuff like slapping his mom and trying to get into fights with a coach; oh and he trashed the team and said Mahomes is bad and the Chiefs will regret trading Alex Smith, when he was leaving the team to give you an idea of how intelligent he is; rumor is that Mahomes was burning his ass on a regular basis during practice last season and he was getting pissed about it), and while they got Fuller he's not the turnover machine that Peters was. Justin Houston has been inconsistent the past few years (although some of that is scheme, one of the Steelers games, maybe the playoff one after the 2016 season, the d-coordinator had Houston dropping back to cover friggin Antonio Brown...), but is capable of playing well (he played decently tonight), and Dee Ford is really inconsistent. The defense came up big when they absolutely needed to tonight though. I'm not exactly sure where their problem is (the first like 3 years of Reid/Sutton, the defense was top 5 in points allowed per game; they've always given up lots of yards though). Hell not even 2 years ago they kept the 2016 Steelers from scoring a TD out of like 6 times in the red zone.

Yeah but the Chiefs did the same thing (when the game was close, Hunt was getting like 7 yards every run but Reid kept going back to those shitty like 1 yard bubble screens and shit and the offense would stall). Chiefs play calling was pretty shit until about the 4th quarter. And receivers were dropping a lot too.

I'm a bit surprised that the DB launching himself into Kelce's chest didn't draw a flag (he didn't hit helmet to helmet so maybe it doesn't quite meet the defenseless receiver rule). There was a play where a Broncos blocker went helmet to helmet with someone too (looked like the blocker led with his helmet, which I thought now anyone doing that is a penalty - including the ball carrier). I don't think the refs were entirely one sided.

There was a time when the refs were trying to announce a penalty, and it sounded like the Broncos were piping in crowd noise over the PA (it was playing through, and then it was like they realized "oh this is going over the ref" so they cut it but then there was ringing like from feedback that you could hear instead).

Broncos are making a fuss about the time clock going to zero one one play, (and it did and the ref missed it) but really, I don't see it mattering, that kid and that offense was just unstoppable last night, what a game to watch!.

Mahomes is going to be the Steph Curry of football (they even have a similar grin, they can't help having fun, but don't dare think they didn't earn it because they have crazy work ethic).

People will be impressed and think its cool...at first. But then opposing fans will get sick of hearing about him and how great he is and try trashing him, saying he's not that good, or that if he played when "real" ball was that he'd have been beaten out of the league already and all the other shit that will be said. And other star players will want to come play with him and people will say that's bullshit and unfair.

I have to laugh at some of the stats that pop up. The only Chiefs QB to win more games in Denver is Len Dawson (who hasn't played in 43 years). Mahomes, in 5 career starts already has 2 wins there. I saw another stat that said he has more 4th quarter comebacks in Denver than Paxton Lynch (although that becomes less funny knowing that Mahomes has now played as many games as Lynch, hell he might have played more games in Denver even).

Broncos are making a fuss about the time clock going to zero one one play, (and it did and the ref missed it) but really, I don't see it mattering, that kid and that offense was just unstoppable last night, what a game to watch!.

And if Keenum doesn't overthrow Thomas on that wide open pass, and blah blah blah. If the Donkos execute they could have won the game. As I've always held (and the Chiefs have been fucked so many times where the star QB got to snap victory from the jaws of defeat, often with help from the refs), the refs will screw up but the teams always have things that if they'd have done better they wouldn't have lost. They should get used to Mahomes getting to break them, because its gonna happen for awhile. I look forward to when Von Miller gets tired of them always foiling him, so he figures if you can't beat them join them. But then Chubb might fit that role better in several years (if we're using the late 80s/90s Chiefs Broncos, where Mahomes is analog of Elway, and Miller and Chubb are the analog of Derrick Thomas and Neil Smith).

This game showed something: even Andy Reid can't stop Mahomes. Call shitty plays, he'll eventually get them working.

Fucking eastern time zone... I'm so tired from staying up to watch the game. I'm happy the broncos put up a fight since I figured they'd get trounced, but I'm sad they had opportunities that were lost. It feels less bad losing when the Chiefs made so many amazing plays to make it happen. That interception was great, and Mahomes' panicked left handed shovel pass to keep the drive going was just another example of some top level football and it's hard to stop that.
