Sorry for the late thread. I think the MNF game was a good rebound for Dak to make up for the horrible offensive performance against Denver. It wasn't their best showing, but the weathered the storm and basically man-handled the Cardinals.

Week three was a good week, even though the Lions lost, we played very well, but need to get our offense in some order. Anyhow, here are the picks:

THU, SEP 28
Chicago at Green Bay 8:25 PM

SUN, OCT 1
New Orleans at Miami 9:30 AM
Pittsburgh at Baltimore 1:00 PM
Cincinnati at Cleveland 1:00 PM
Los Angeles (Rams) at Dallas 1:00 PM
Tennessee at Houston 1:00 PM
Detroit at Minnesota 1:00 PM
Carolina at New England 1:00 PM
Jacksonville at NY Jets 1:00 PM
San Francisco at Arizona 4:05 PM
Philadelphia at Los Angeles (Chargers) 4:05 PM
NY Giants at Tampa Bay 4:05 PM
Oakland at Denver 4:25 PM
Indianapolis at Seattle 8:30 PM

MON, OCT 2
Washington at Kansas City 8:30 PM

I know everyone's expecting Buffalo to lose to Atlanta, but at least have the courtesy to predict our demise.

Man the Bears are REALLY bad. How the hell did the Steelers lose to them? Last night is the first time I've watched the Bears all season, and they were like never even in the game, or even close to being in the game.

I'm just glad Danny Trevathan isn't a Bronco anymore.

Start at QB. Sure, I haven't watched them either, but Glennon is a backup. Yes, this is harping on an older point, but no QB, no shot. Hence, the Skins need to do whatever they need to do to extend Cousins. I know he's probably not top 10, but he's better than about 10 to 15 Qbs out there right now.

The more I watch bad QB play, the more I am thankful the Lions have a QB. The more thankful Raiders fans are they have Carr. I bet Colt fans will sell their right arms to have Luck back in, given the putrid QB play in Indy thus far.

Teams typically go as the guy under center goes. Look at the Bengals as well.

Yeah, that was a bad hit. I don't know if it was intentional, but my God he almost knocked the guy cold. The league goes out of its way to protect QBs -- they should do the same when a player is clearly getting tackled when guys come in trying to clean guys up like that.

It's funny you bring up the Redskins. I was listening to sports radio on the way in today and they were doing a segment about how last year, many of the people who were against a long term deal with cousins said that Glennon was an alternative and that the Redskins could pick him up and they would be "just fine."

Well, after that game last night, I don't know how anyone can say that with a straight face.

I believe that attitude stems from the fact that people foolishly believe that if your name isn't Brady, Brees Wilson, or Rogers, you're no better than the other 27 quarterbacks. So there are those four and after them, you can flip a coin.

This season is proving that wrong. Cousins and Glennon are not "interchangeable". Complete nonsense.

I'm willing to accept a trade between the Redskins and the Bears in an effort to prove whether or not they are interchangeable or not. Clearly we need more data before we can arrive at that conclusion.

Oh I know trust me. I have been 100% on board for signing Cousins to a long term deal since 2016. I understood why they didn't do it then, and I was 100% positive they would work one out this past offseason. But nope, the Redskins never seem to surprise me.

And now they have flat out said that the franchise tag is in play for the 2018 season as well, which AT MINIMUM would be $28 million for the transition tag.

So that means, instead of giving him a fair market value LTD (that has been estimated to be 70-80 million guaranteed with 120 million over 5 years) they will instead be paying him $19 million for year 1, $24 million for year 2, and minimum, $28 million for year 3. So $71 million to rent him for 3 years instead of $70 million guaranteed and a contract for $120 million for 5+ years.

In general the sports fans in the DC area for the most part are completely unreasonable and stupid. There are people who are 100% confident that Colt McCoy can do the same thing with the Redskins as Cousins can. There are people who think they should let Cousins walk and just "find a QB in the draft" because you know, that's worked out oh so well for them in the past 2 decades, especially with RG3. They think it's easy to just go out and find the next Aaron Rogers or Tom Brady through the draft. They are also stupid because they think where you rank among salary is where you should rank among QB's skill wise, which is just stupid as shit.

This is the same town that thought Colt Brennan should be our starter when he was drafted. COLT BRENNAN. Where is he now? I don't think he ever made it anywhere else in the NFL other than the Redskins practice squad.

I could go on and on about how stupid the Redskins FO and our fanbase is for the most part, but that's what the Redskins forums are for.

Not sure what you mean, but looking at their stats:

Cousins Career stats
http://www.nfl.com/player/kirkcousins/2532820/careerstats

Mike Glennon Career stats:
http://www.nfl.com/player/mikeglennon/2539275/careerstats

He came in a year after Cousins, an couldn't even find the freaking field. I don't know if it was due to injury, or because he's simply a backup.

LOL that's the same bull**** Lions fans are peddling with the Stafford contract, why not "franchise tag him for the next 3 years" (after his deal is up in 2018) and pay him more just to rent him until the next Tom Brady comes up in the draft. Its backward, asinine logic. I'm glad our FO had the intelligence to sign him and keep him for 5 years for less money.

I could swear you were listening in to Detroit sports talk radio.

The "he doesn't have the credentials to "deserve" a max contract" argument is mind-numbing.

LOL McCoy and Brennan would be starting the the NFL right now if they were worth a damn. I forgot Brennan was even in the league to begin with.

Exactly. The simple counter argument is "if McCoy was starting material, where are all the teams lining up at the door for him?"

"Oh they aren't? That's because he is not starter material."

That dude has been a career backup and that is just what he is. Nothing wrong with that, it's just his role.

What is so mind boggling about all of this is that these fans act like we have had a QB in recent times. The Redskins have literally had no QB since Mark Rypien, and even he wasn't that great of a QB. He had great surrounding members. And that was early 90's. It just baffles my mind.

I am not big on the Skins QB history, but when I began paying serious attention to it a short time ago, all I remember is Gus Frerotte. I actually used to think he was pretty good.

The first half is over in the UK. Sants and Fins were so bad in the first half. More penalties on both teams than points scored (until Saints had an FG right before halftime). Pitiful and bad to watch.
