Ok, here is one for the nerdlings of Anandtech.
My neighbor called today saying that she is having issues with her Office 2000 word. When you click on the icon, it loads to a point and freezes. The bar on top of the page doesn't load. Just a blank white screen that you can't do anything with. So when you close it, it gives you the "Not responding" error.
I tried to reinstall Office (of course after uninstalling) twice to no evail. I went to Microsofts website and it told me to do two things;
1. go in and change the data field in the registry.
2. rename or delete the normal.dot file
I did both to no avail.
I then tried to start up word with a /a switch to get it to load with nothing else. THAT WORKED. But what is going on? I tried to open excel and that loaded just fine. But I would like it to work the correct way. Any Ideas?
Thanks guys...
BTW,
Computer is running win xp home with office 2000 business (and even tried just regular office 2000.
