Was it $30?

No, the IBM when I bought it was $80, and so was the maxtor when I got it in June. I'm just pointing out that even though these liquid bearing drives are quiet at idle, they're not always like that. Obviously at the cost I got this one at I'm not complaining, just some people really do whatever they can to keep noise down in their systems, so, on these drives, you really can't go on the DB ratings at idle.

It keeps saying 'You have entered an invalid coupon code 7677' whenever I check my cart for the first time, and doesn't show any discount when I add the drive. I was using a getmeadeal link and code, I even tried logging out and creating a new account.

Oh well, I guess I won't buy from officedepot.

Clear your OD cookies. I had the same thing happen to me when I tried to order it earlier in the week. Tried to do in store pickup, not in stock, then it wouldn't let me add the drive back to the cart and do regular delivery. Glad I waited though. Got in on it this morning with the $20 discount. Cool. Match it up with the other 30gb I got from the CUSA radio deal a while back and start messing with RAID.

Chi30:

Here are some suggestion:

The $30 02-50311 rebate expired 10-26-02: See it here

02-50903 link for $20 rebate

02-50051 link for $20 rebate

Too bad about the $30 expiring.

Do you have AAM enabled, and what is it set at? IBM's Feature Tool works on Maxtor drives as well.

They will refuse to give the second rebate, they both say original UPC, the one you send in gets the rebate, the other one send you back a postcard saying no original UPC sent. You have to go back to OD and talk to a manager about this to get your rebate money

My submit order page had the comment 'First time customer order' - which it was for me.

Try creating a new account. I just did (using phony info) and the coupon was working.

You might try deleting your cookies first. Don't know if that'll help with real info - I didn't try it.

Ialso tried entering 2 coupon codes (using phony account) and got the '7677' message.

Tried entering the $20 off $100 code using my real account and got the message: 'Sorry, you have already used the offer HPCA'.

Got my drive today, thanks for the deal! I've been needing a bigger HD than the 11gig one I've been using to use for backup when I format my machine.

This is a very thin drive. I think it is about 3/4 the height of all the previous Maxtor drives I have bought. It is called a "DiamondMax Plus 8", at least according to the tag on the drive. The retail box still says "3 year warranty" in about four places on the box, so I wonder if this is the dreaded one year warranty or not. You would think a consumer might have a case against Maxtor if they are selling drives in old boxes that advertise the wrong warranty.

I think Maxtor established a "cut-over" date where their new drives would be manufactured with a 1-year warranty. I'm sure for the next several months, many of you will buy Maxtor hard drives that come with 3-year warranties. The drives manufactured from date "x" and forward will feature a shorter warranty. It could take minimally a few weeks to get these drives circulated into the market. This drive will have a 3-year warranty. If Maxtor fails to honor the warranty, then just ensure you keep copies of everything in the even it dies in 2 years. If that's the case, I would go back to Office Depot and tell them that Maxtor won't honor the drive warranty - OD will then probably work out a deal with you by giving you one of their "bottom of the line" drives which will be a 200 GB Maxtor for about $70 at the time.

Just picked up the last one they had @ my local OD. Just in time too. The IBM 10gig in my wife's comp locked up solid last nite.
Thanks for the heads up!

You're just looking to get denied. Use your packing slip that comes with the package as the receipt. Most places will deny if you use a printout (I've learned the hard way)
