My last 5 Office Depot orders has come with a receipt. It's just lousy customer service when they wouldn't do something as basic as putting a receipt in the box before they ship it. :disgust:

This is what I have to do after every Office Depot order : to get a copy of receipt call the receipt department at 1-800-937-3600 option #4 ext. 87739 you will be ask by a recording to leave your (Credit Card #, amount of purchase, store # (Officedepot.com) and date of purchase). give they your fax # if you want a fax or your home address if you want it mailed to you, but that will take a longer time to arrive.

Save this information, you will need it again and again.

Yes, that's what the CSR told me to send in...my rebate is being processed (see post above) so it must work.

WOW, this thing is SILENT, a huge improvement from the 80gig maxtor I got in june (which was just as loud as a maxtor I got 2 years ago). Anyone know, is this just a different design because its a smaller size, or are all new maxtor drives like this?

The drive you're using has Fluid bearings and is rated at 27dB idle/28dB seek.
If that 80gb maxtor you got in june was a retail 7200rpm drive, it's likely the D740X. It is rated at 30dB idle/35dB seek, which is the same spec as a 3 year old 20GB Maxtor that I have.

You're right, the one I got in June is a D740, but it also has liquid bearings. I never notice it at idle. However, once it starts reading/writing, it makes a nice amount of noise. The thing thats impressing me about this 30 gb one is the fact that it STAYS silent even while its reading/writing.
