The manager told me that they've had this on sale at great prices repeatedly since Christmas.
A salesman told me Sandisk is trying to gain presence in the market after coming late to the game behind Creative, iRiver and iPod.
This thing is small! I thought it was going to be bigger and clunkier than an iPod.
It's smaller than an iPod.
The B&M (brick & mortar) stores near me are OOS (Out Of Stock) before the sale even started. They're substituting the M230 for the OOS e130. It's not a compareable substitiute. The m230 does NOT take SD media. The e130 may or may not be available online.
The m230 is shaped more like a Muvo with the keypad to the right of the screen.
I'm not sure, but I think the screen is larger on the e130.
The m230 is deeper front to back.
See Sandisk's pages on the two models below:
e130
m230m230
According to this page the m200 series is replacing the e100 series.

In eliminating the option to add SD media, they lose SD sales but force you to buy another player if you find that you need more storage space.
I suppose if you start with an m230 and upgrade to an m240 or m250 and pass your 512MB m230 on to someone else, they gain word of mouth advertising and soon your friend who got the hand-me-down will be looking to upgrade.
Does anyone have any experience with the m230?
Unless it's in someway better than the e130, I'm thinking of returning the m230 and buying the e130 online if it's available.
Thanks OP. Thanks all.
