Good luck finding these. I checked a couple stores without luck. Finally found an employee who was willing to check the computer for other stores in the area. None. He saw a couple stores that showed 1 OH but they were very distant. Oh well.

is an 8x dvd rom fast enough to burn cd to cd on the fly with a 12x burner?

i need to know because my 50x cd rom is not fast enough to do this, but i heard that dvd drives are fast enough to do it on the fly

Thanks for the heads up on the 8x DVD drive. I managed to purchase the last one in the Columbia, SC. Upon examining the drive it turns out to be a 8x Afreey DVD drive. But for $29 you can't complain

Went to my local Office Maxx and talked with the assistant mgr. I gave him the SKU He called some other stores and found one in stock which they are shipping to my store. The DVDroms are discontinued and they are trying to get them off their inventory. From what I understand, there aren't may left. GOOD DEAL though.

I picked up the last IO Magic DVD at the Blossom Hill store (San Jose). Its a Pioneer and I put it in the computer and it works great. It also does DAE at 14X (2100 Kb/sec) so it will keep up with a 12X burner easily. My 52X CDRom drive only does DAE at 8X so it barely keeps up with the Plextor 8X/4X/32X burner. This was a great deal. 29.00 plus 2.32 tax minus this 15.00 gift card I had made a total of 16.32. Thanks for the post.

Just checked Pioneers website for the 114 and I found out this is actually a 10X drive. This drive also reads all CDR and CDRW formats.

Very hit or miss when it comes to Omax clearance. Some stores never markdown the price and pull clearance stuff until they receive a RTV number.

And you expect the retailers help to do your bargain hunting for you? Get real.

None of the B&amp;M stores make any money off all these Hot Deals, so I certainly wouldn't expect them to go out of their way to make it easy for you.

If the deal is so good, put forth a little effort. If it isn't, then who cares.

I looked on the OD website, and didnt find any 12X DVDs listed. (Wait for it)

I know my local ODs have several in their glass cases, does anyone know if these 12X units are going to be clearanced also, since they dont seem to be a regular item, it might go.

Region locks, 1-6.

Take a global map (like big time zones) there are different regions.

The locks are so if 1 person outside of your region (say Hong Kong) is unable to make 1000 EXACT digital copies of say Titanic, and ship them to the US and sell them cheap.

I just got the last one I think in the Atlanta Area. I checked with OM to see if they have anymore in any of the stores in this area and they were none.

I am lucky. I think i am going to put all the free CD-ROM drive and the DVD-ROM and my SCSI CD-R. Cause i dont use up my IDE. I know thats a little over kill but hey i have nothing else to do.

BTW. i got the Pioneer one. DVD-114 but they say its a 10X?
