I read on another forum that (according to a BB employee) these "items" are strictly software -- downlodable widget-like apps.

Correct. I believe THIS is the stapler used in the movie. The movie people custom painted it red, and I assume added the "Swingline" script to the side over top of the paint. I don't think the stapler comes with that script on the side.

In any event, I bought a gray version of the model 747 stapler two years ago and painted it red myself, to match the red stapler that Swingline sells. I use it at work. It has been my intent to also purchase the stapler I linked to and paint it red as well, to match what was used in the movie, but I haven't done it yet.

Correct... IIRC Swingline didn't make a red stapler when the movie came out. The movie made it popular, so they started making them.

Mines shipped and the package weight is 4.7lbs. Wonder what it really is coming with or did they use a phonebook for packaging.

The BB page says release date 11/1, how can they be shipping already? I'm curious too, but the deal say it's good until 12/31 which makes me suspicious since there is no "while supplies last" or anything to that effect. Let us know!

Can someone who recieved the movie post some pics of the items included in the package? Are they worth the extra $10 ?

Somebody told me the stapler is definitely NOT a swingline, it is just a red plastic stapler with the office space logo on it.

There is a thread on Chubby Wallet about it (the extras) and it's not a Swingline and some other junk. I need to see when my local BB gets it in stock so I make an exchange. They shipped the damn thing in a plastic bubble mailer, good going you jerks. I've had better free shipping.

The dvd
- Stapler -=- Not the real deal , but not that bad of a stapler it looks.
- Mousepad - With a bunch of office space - style design and stills
- Coffee Mug - no... it is not what you all think it will be (innitech) but has Lumbergh on the front with his mug going "xxxxxxxxx" (can't read it on the back of the box)
- Magnet picture frame - Post-it designs on it. Looks about 4x6 or 5x7
- Notepad - TPS reports it looked like
- Pen/Pencil - Bic - style

Hmmm ok after further thought and reading I'll be returning it. The extras are apparently some really cheapo stuff.

i bought the dvd today.

i actually accidentally bought the "fullscreen" version and had to exchange it for "widescreen" . there were a TON of the fullscreen and they were almost out of the widescreen. i dont understand why they even stock those, who buys them. its funny that everyone at best buy was talking about it because they had a huge display with the boxed sets on it.

anyways, i found it funny that i went there on my lunch break, and random other office workers were buying copies. some multiple. you could tell because everyone had a random lanyard or waist office security card. anyway, the special edition stuff look really crappy.

i mean as far as i am concerned being an office worker and all...

mug with lumberg on it - didnt look too nice, if it was initech then maybe, i can by very "initech" like mugs with my own company name on them, and i'd love an initech one
post its - if you are an office worker there ar ea million of these in a supply room
pen/pencil - looked crappy, just red with word office space on them. again supply room
mouse pad - moust pad looked real cheap. not a cloth one, crap plastic top one, the kind that usually will peel in the corners eventually
stapler - looked crappy, looked much cheaper looking than the black office depot stapler i have , again supply room.

so from an office worker point of view, the supplies are worthless, and the mug being just a picture of lumberg basically sucks. save your $10 and get the dvd by itself, the deleted scenes are worth it alone, along with the commentary. i havent tried the dvd-rom extras yet, but i'm hoping there are pdfs of a TPS report on there.

Even more reason for me to get my ass in gear and get to Bestbuy to return it. Thanks for full details.

Picked this up today. I agree that the "physical" extras (stapler etc.) are cheap. For example, the TPS cover sheet pad has the image of a gutted fish on it. Anyway, a point that hasn't been mentioned is that the DVD is a remastered anamorphic widescreen. Should look alot better than the old DVD, I'll find out tonight.
