I was actually at Officemax today and saw the Starlogic/Fourstar 50 pack DVD-R and they indeed stated 1X. I also found a 25 pack of "Value Disc" DVD -R. The store manager told me that this was the new substitute for this week's 9.99 AR special..

Saw those too... Thought about getting a pack, but they really looked super-cheapo so I held off. Think I have enough to get by for a while...

Well it's not like you can't do other things on your computer while your're burning at 1x and I wouldn't be surprise if these 1x disc burn at 2x and if you can get they for FREE after rebate it's still a good deal, the real question is will they play in your DVD player.

And don't forget the Imation DVD-R or DVD+R 5 pack with cases for $1.99 after a $5 MIR.

Whats the quality of the Khypermedia 8x dvd burner? Its cheaper than the 79.99 deal last week.
Khypermedia 8x dvd burner is a rebadged CyberDrive DX082D, and the last time this drive was on sale OM was substituting the I/O Magic 8X Dual Format DVD +/-R/RW Drive.

Here's the old thread from the last time this drive was on sale: LINK

8x CyberDrive DX082D review

Thank you for the info and review! I'm hoping this will substitute this week as well.
Khypermedia 8x dvd burner (# 20730176) is now on line.

Khypermedia 8x

Bad news no coupon can be used on the drive.

I'm going to try to get a sub tomorrow and see what they give me, or wait until next Monday to see if they will sub the DVD+RW drive with a dual drive for $70 which is smoking hot as long as it is not BTC and a Lite-on.

Thanks for the heads up on the burner being online.

BTW, if anyone is looking at the compressed air dusters on the last page, be prepared to fight for the rebate. They want the UPC from the package... it's just the can or cans and some shrink wrap. They deny it when you don't cut the can apart. Then, you have to call and fight, resubmit it, and get denied again because of the postmark date. Then you have to call again and get it all done manually. YMMV , but mine was poor
Sorry to hear you had trouble. I never have problem with can air rebate: write a note with your rebate form, stating it is a can of air, don't forget to write down the upc code (or, scan the code).

I was charged $19.99, and can't find the rebate form for it. Do you know which rebate form I can use? And what item number? Thanks.

Khyper owns Value disc. So you shouldn't have any trouble using the Khy rebate.
And if you do, well that's why you go in and show the reject and they still pay you.

Yup...thats right! Just go to page 5 number 69 of the rebate booklet and you will see Khypermedia DVD +R 25 pack...use that one.

Pretty sure it would be anything from Optorite, Lite-On, BTC and Cyberdrive.

I didn't attempt to photocopy or scan the side of the can, but I did write a note with the rebate submission. Basically said it was a can of compressed air, I hadn't used it yet and was unwilling to puncture it, not to mention getting cut on the sharp edges. Still got denied. I assume some drone sitting there half asleep glossed right over it all and hit it with the big denial stamp.

Also here's the staples link again, I did a craptacular job of manually formatting it earlier. This is the full address if anyone is interested. This is from an e-mail I got from them: http://instorespecials.staples.com/staples/store_browse.asp?pretailerid=-99906&siteid=144&adref=emails&storeid=2279062 I can't go back and even edit the post I put it in. Seems that whole post got f'd up somehow.

Anyone notice that the rebate for the 50 pack of DVD-Rs says $10 and not $20?

I wonder if they made a mistake? Wonder if I can get them to discount another $10 at the register for the typo....
