The StarLogic DVD-Rs were $20 OTD and a $20 rebate coupon printed out. See above for the info on the RiDATA disks.

I picked up the CD-RW drive and CD-R's today. Both were substitution items. I am forced to submit rebates for both of the items, and hopefully they will go through.

The DVD-R's in the 50 piece pack are made by Ritek. The printing on the disc is a duplicate of the CompUSA badged DVD-R's, so I checked them using DVD Identifier. They manufacturing data is the same, they are 1x manufactured by Ritek. I personally have problems with those discs in my LG DVD-RW/RAM Burner, but no problems in my Pioneer DVR-105.

Went there last morning around 11:30am. There is no Imation DVD+R 5pk and 25pk left. A few people were searching and the manager said that he will check what can be used to substitute. Eventually he said that Memorex DVD+R 5pk and 25pk can be used for the after-rebate price ($1.99/5pk and $14.99/25pk). It is a better deal since there is no rebate and Memorex has faster speed. I ended up getting a 25pk and three 5pk. The cashier did not say anything about restricting one package per person.

Are you talking about dvd+r or dvd-r? Did the Imation 4x (ricoh) came from 5pk and/or 25pk (spindle in box). Has anyone got made in japan disc(s) from "made in taiwan" 5pk or 25pk dvd+r?

yes, the 4x ricoh disks burn at 8x no problem. Imation and memorex 4x has been ricoh recently.

You're welcome. I didn't notice the red, but each jewel pack says 4x right on the paper insert. BTW, I tried another 8x burn on these disks - lots of errors this time. WTF?

The OM around here is usually out of everything, but I did get the 50 pak of DVDR's. Says 1x, but backed up using dvdshrink/nero at 2x. Plays just fine.

And is it me but are all office max stores run by idiots who are not only clueless, but rude. Asking for any assistance is always such a pain, they act like they can't stand to do their job.

Got the 50 pack of DVD-Rs at Officemax ($10 after rebate). These are Princo 1x blanks. (ID's by DVDDecrypter). They won't even burn in my NEC 1300a burner (Nero tries to burn at 2x, then just gives a calibration error; doesn't even offer 1x burning).

They burn OK in my Sony 510 burner, but only at 1x.

I second the OM reps are morons... I went to one store and they were OOS on the DVD-Rs from starlogic... they called another store for me to save the trip and I spent 15 minutes waiting as they had 3 reps pick up and ask the guy what he wanted... I then drove to the other store and no one knew what the F I was talking about.... I found the disks at the back on a table not on the shelf.... no one knew how the rebate thing worked (thank godness for the printout and the rebate book)

Anyway, my starlogics burn at 2x nicely with my LG4040B... plays in my RCA RC5240P DVD player fine. 29.5 min to burn a full dvd with clonedvd.

Maybe the disks don't work for everyone but they are sweeeet for me.... gonna go buy another spindle tomorrow and have my friend send the mail in for me.

Hi Bud, hope all is well with ya. Not really clueless. They sell a lot of different items other than 'puter stuff as you know. I think you must be referring to sales floor people who don't work the whole store. Sounds like you're not getting the peeps who work in the "tech" section, or maybe just bad luck?

Like you, I generally try to get to know the mgrs by sight. It can help.
