Wonder how many morons will buy the onsale DVD-Rs for their onsale DVD+RW.

Whats the quality of the Khypermedia 8x dvd burner? Its cheaper than the 79.99 deal last week.

Ad says DVD-Rs are Star Logic Brand. Anyone bought these before or know who makes them?

OMFG, I realized that these will 1X DVD-R media. I will pass then. I got excited about the deal that I didn't even think about the burning speed.

Warning for those considering the Imation DVD+RW discs for $4.99/5 pack. The disc info says they're CMC magnetic :disgust:. I backed up a DVD using an Optorite 0203, and it played back fine on the same drive but haven't tried it in any other drive yet

Any additional information on CMC magnetic discs? I just picked up a spindle of them but have not tried yet.

I've been trying to hold out for dual layer burners, which are supposedly are coming out this summer, but these cheap 8x deals are getting harder and harder to resist

the dvd+r (philips 2.4x) are the only ones playing my panasonic so far

Khypermedia 8x dvd burner is a rebadged CyberDrive DX082D, and the last time this drive was on sale OM was substituting the I/O Magic 8X Dual Format DVD +/-R/RW Drive.

BTW, if anyone is looking at the compressed air dusters on the last page, be prepared to fight for the rebate. They want the UPC from the package... it's just the can or cans and some shrink wrap. They deny it when you don't cut the can apart. Then, you have to call and fight, resubmit it, and get denied again because of the postmark date. Then you have to call again and get it all done manually. YMMV , but mine was poor

I hope you are not serious. i just got it this morning, and i notice the cut out UPC line, and thought it is hilarious. I intended to ask what the OM guys are going to tell me, but later thought they will just tell me they will honor the rebate if you send in copies. I say that because i just went in and ask for rain checks for Magic spin 8X dvd writer, and they told me that it will ring up as 129.99 and i stilll have to send in the rebate even after rebate period. They told me the rebate will work. I didn't believe him, but what can i say!

I see that the Star Logic 50 pack DVD-Rs (#20727000) are listed on the web site as "FREE" after rebates, $29.99 -$10 IR -$20 MIR = $0.00, so either the ad or the web site has the wrong info or maybe not.

Starlogic/Fourstar 50 pack DVD-R

BTY: I doubt there are any MFG'er still making 1X DVD-Rs, these are probably 2x DVD-Rs.
