i was just wondering the same thing, i want to pick one up, but dont want to risk losing out on the $20 one, problem is, it's not in the rebate book they give you either

Ok guys here's how to get the drive from the net

Order it, it's backordered.. mine shows up as arriving on December 10

Go to your local officemax and ask for their rebate book. The $25 rebate is on pg 17 and the $20 is on pg 29, they can be used in unison with photocopies of the UPC.

They must be postmarked 15 days after purchase, so depending on scheduled time of new shipments it might not be possible for everyone to do this. Mine is coming on December 10 so I have to do the rebates by the 14th or so.

Problem with your idea is that you haven't purchased the unit yet. Until your CC is billed you haven't purchased it therefore the rebate would not be vaild since you did not purchase it by the required date. Your credit card does not get billed until your unit is ready to ship. So in conclusion you have just missed out on your rebate.

It didn't show up as back ordered until the last step of checkout, right before the final confirmation.

Well I use a Visa Check Card and it was billed already, even though the item is backordered and scheduled for delivery on the 10th.... the order confirmation is dated today, as I believe the invoice will be (since I've already been billed) then there isnt a problem is there?

yeah I think they just ship from their store locations and use the store inventory. I'm in Jersey.

I am just talking from experience. Your shipping invoice will not be dated until ship date making your rebate invalid. But don't believe me not my money. Don't know why I bother trying to help people some times.

so basically it doesn't matter when it ships unless it's today or tomorrow to be eligible for the rebate then huh?

i may hvae to call and see what the deal is with this cuz i dont want $45 tied up for no reason

Oh and BTW its actually illegal to charge a credit card for something that is not in stock Maelsturm. Found that out last year in a deal gone bad, but thats another story.

I just got off the phone with a OfficeMax CSR and he says the shipping invoice will have the date of order (purchase) along with the date of shipping... so again, I still don't see a problem (considering my CC has been charged)



edit: and if for some reason the shipping invoice is messed up, I believe there are two options
1) call OM and get them to fax you a legit invoice
2) return the drive to the store and get the full price back


no $45 tied up then... it's either in my pocket or on a 3 month long conveyer belt in Miami

why'd you call staples if you ordered from office max?

I got a question for you guys.


I recently picked up TWO Khypermedia CDr from Officemax for 40 plus tax.
I tried using the 10 off 40 Staples coupon and the cashier told me that I can not use it because these (CDRs) are on sale. Is this true? If not, I want to go back and redeem the $10. I'm a student so $10 is like 2 hours of my part time job money.

Placed my order after midnight. Got the Go video DVD/VCR player, the DVD drive, 200 crappy cdr's, 100 slim pack jewel cases, modem (io magic pain in the butt rebate), network, card and 3 pack of VCR tapes. All for about $60 after rebates and coupon.with tax. They adjusted all my prices to the sale prices and all is due on Monday. Cool.

I just got back from my local store, I got a 4x DVD-R drive!!! They were substituting!!!

The DVD drives for 169 at the office max i was at had a sticker that said "drive by pioneer" so i bet they are a04's but i didnt have enougth dough to get one. i settled for a cendyne 48x cdrw. the verbatims were there but they werent the ones with the additional rebate.

the KHypermedia that everyone was snubbing has worked good so far, my spindle said 48x and i have burnt a copule of cds with them and no coasters yet

gotta love 3 minute to a full cd!! what a difference from my 8x!

Slept late ... walked into Office Max at about 1000 hours. Asked for the Cendyne DVD-ROM drive, said they ran out BUT they had a substitution ... a Pacific Digital 16X DVD drive. Anyone else get one of these? Who makes them and are they as good as the Cendynes? The rebates are still SUPPOSED to be good ... we will see.

I can only find the $5 rebate for Officemax. Where can I find the other $5 rebate for KHypermedia??
