I just PMed the 300i at Staples. They wouldn't do the 110% for some reason, they did 100%, but I wasn't complaining. It might help if you tell them that Office Max was giving out the F&F fliers yesterday, so it wasn't really an exclusive sale. The manager was somewhat reluctant to do it, and called office max twice so YMMV. Oddly enough, he didn't ask whether they were still in stock, which they weren't.

Anyone have any info on which is better the Minolta laser printer or the brother 1440 laser printer? Both are selling for $99. Thanks!

where are you finding the 1440 for $99?

Here in San Francisco, OM's are sold out of the 1250W, and the 1440 was listed for $229. Is this an unpublished price?

Thanks.

I went in to Officemax yesterday (seattle, shoreline to be more exact.) to pick up a few of the 100 packs of cdrs for $10, and I got them to hold one of the 300i for me for all day today. So I can just wonder in at my own pace and pick it up today. Oh and the cdr were 48x too

OfficeMax in Rochester was offering the Brother as a substitution after the Minolta went OOS in store. However, they were offering both the Brother and Minolta if you ordered from the warehouse and had it shipped to you.

Scored a 300i this morning, no troubles.

To the person who asked if this is a good burner for $150. Ummm, hello? It's a DVD burner. At half price. Or double a decent CD-RW drive, depending on how you look at it.

Mega steaming nuclear pile hot!

Ehhh, it's not that long. Data rate on a 4xDVD-R is eqivelant to a 36x CD-RW. Full DVD-R burned in 15 minutes.

This Minolta 1250W apparently has Linux drivers they can be found here:

<A HREF="http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/foo2zjs/">Linux Drivers</A>

The printer apparently is using the Zenographics protocol whic the foo2zjs supports, read the link for more info. The site doesn't offically list support for the 1250W, but theoretically it shoudl work (can anyone test this easily?).

Not to put a bad taste on this deal,

Watch out for the QMS/Minolta 1250W if you are going to print a lot of paper.

Toner packs are $79 each and Drum packs are $109.
Since you change 1 drum every 3 toner packs
That is $115 per toner change.

The HP 1200se (Which was last weeks special for $199) brand new toners/drums were $65 and the refurbs were $35.

So just remember that this is a good priced printer but a little more on the consumables.
Wake up smell coffe. The printer costs $99.99. Why would you want to buy a new drum for more when you can buy new printer with a new drum for less?

Just got back from OM, picked up the last 300i. They didn't give me any problems, just had to ask for it cause they have locked in a storeroom.

Anyway, before leaving I checked on DVD-R media and saw this Imation 5-pack for $9.99 w/ instant rebate. However, in-store it rang up for $19.99, the cashier said it might be an online only sale and I didn't have printout to prove it. Checked the media over on dvdrhelp and it's decent reviews but it seems to be 2.4x. The drive itself has gotten great reviews Also, Circuit City has Memorex Combo Pack (3 DVD+Rs, 3 DVD+RWs) for $19.99.

Just got back from OM. Bought the 300i yesterday to ensure they dont run out. Went in today and asked for a PM to today's sale price. The manager said that I bought the 300i and the ad was for the 200i. I told him the second code was for the 300i and that OMs are giving them if they run out of the 200i. He smiled and asked me if I work for an OM. I said no, but a friend of mine does. He's chucked and it was all good. 300i for $162 (after tax). Woulda been nice if I could find the $30 off $150 coupon that I got in the mail last week.

And I figure since I consider all you ATers and other FWers my friends, I'm sure one of you works for OM, so I didnt lie.

I also picked up a 50-pack of Fuji DVD+R media from Best Buy for $79.99 ($99.99 - $20 Instant Rebate). It comes packaged as two 25-pack spindles. Not gonna open it till I figure out it was the best deal I could get. =)

Anyone know if the DVD+RW at MicroCenter will still be good tomorrow? I just came from there and I dont feel like going back today.

Just got back from the Huntington Beach OfficeMax, and as per usual, they are sold out of everything interesting.

I also got a substituion for the Minolta 1250W Laser Printer ... they gave me the Brother HL-1440 for the $99 price ... and it was was originally selling for $229.

I'm not opening the box until I find out a little more about the printer. It looks pretty decent from the outside of the box but I want to be able to return it (14 days) if I decide against it.

How do you order from the warehouse? Do you do it from the store or internet or phone?

I'm having 0 luck getting either a 1250W or 1440 for $99 here in SF. The local OM's did have some this morning, but they sold out withing 30 minutes of store opening. None of the local stores are offering any substitutions.

Tried calling OM on the phone and they gave me the $199 price. Can't even find the 1250W on officemax.com

Thanks.

Earlier this morning I had called OM and had them hold a 300i for me. I just got back from picking it up. When I picked it up the guy said: "It's a good thing you had us hold this. We sold out of them in 30 minutes this morning."
And I had no problems getting it for $150 ($163 after tax). I forgot to even look at media. So later I stopped by BB and picked up the Fuji DVD+Rs 50 pack for $80 ($87 after tax). And that is my exciting Saturday afternoon.

Edit: After looking around online the 50 pack of Fuji's doesn't seem like that bad of a deal. (Especially if it's good media)

Does anyone know where I can get an enclosure for this DVD writer, possibly so I can use it with my laptop?

Picked the 300i up today at OM, one by my house was out of stock, but they held one for me at another location.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Whatever!!! I bought this printer a few weeks ago at Staples when they had the $100.00 rebate and ended up getting it for $60.00. This is an Awesum printer for the money and it works fine on my network with Windows XP. Don't comment on things unless you have first hand experience!

what does this mean? what's a GDI based printer?

Basically it means that it's a printer with no processor... uses your computer resources to print... You won't be able to use this printer as a network printer or use it with any other operating systems save Windows.

Ya know how they have those winmodems/softmodems... this is pretty much the same thing but for printers.

Actually my referal to a network printer was a true network printer, not one that goes through a Windows machine, which still uses a host machine to rasterize print jobs. Try hooking up the printer to a true network print server device. You'll usually get a much different story there. And yes, I've used GDI printers in the past. They tend not to be pretty when printing over networks.
