Anyone knows what needs to be provided for the NAV upgrade? I'm not sure I have either the box or the manual from NAV 2003. Will the take the CD?
any other FAR product that qualifies for the upgrade

Is it just me or does every OfficeMax ad for like the past 2 months seams like it is entirely the same except they change 5-6 things?

Is officemax rebate reliable?

So far, based solely on my experience, CC and staples are the top rank one since I easily get all the rebates from them without hassle. Fry is at the bottom since almost half of the total rebates did not come, even I had go there and confront them for 3 to 4 times.

Spectek is good stuff. If it's the pc2700 then it's cas2.5 and very decent. BB had this same deal a couple weeks ago for $49.99 AR also. I picked up a couple. 1gb of pc2700 for $100.

Gunblade asked:

Is officemax rebate reliable?

Some people have probs and some don't. Unfortunately, I have had probs with about half of all OM rebates I have submitted. OM will usually pay out in the end if you Work for them. For me my time is very valuable so I avoid them. Staples is by far the best of all the office supply stores. I've had many rebates paid without ever having to call or visit a store to complain. As always YMMV ...

Dud is right - for every person that hasn't had a problem, there is likely one who has. If you submit your rebates online, you'll reduce some of the problems. Keeping copies of everything and doing the littles things like printing envelopes clearly (with a printer), you'll increase your odds of having a trouble-free submission. YMMV, but I'm one to speak of their reliability. Most rebates take time (usually the full 8 weeks), but I'm willing to wait just to get a good deal ($20 hard drive anyone?).

From postings I have read here and elsewhere there have been major problems with rejections (esp. on Khypermedia products), late payments, wrong skus provided to the rebate house, and the list goes on and on. I submitted 14 rebates for Black Friday purchases from OMax and was exceptionally lucky in that none were marked invalid. The majority took much longer than 8 weeks and I just received the last couple of them in mid-March. I did submit online when possible and addressed the envelopes by hand. I can find no rhyme or reason as to why one person's gets rejected while someone else's is fine. The upside is that they all do seem to get paid eventually, even if you have to work at it.

Heh...I work at Office Max and have access to like the next 3 or 4 ads...we get them like a month in advance...I haven't seen anything spectacular in them thus far...

As I stated, everyone's experience is different. I would take everything with a grain of salt (pardon to the cliche) because more people would obviously post regarding their problems than those who didn't have any issues (this is just my opinion). Nevertheless, I fully agree that OM rebate fulfillment is a bit dodgy at times and that follow ups are often required to get the rebate paid.

Well not to make this a crying fest, but to answer the question, I have a lot of headaches over OM rebates. Let me preface this by saying that in all my years, I have never had a single problem with rebates until I began shopping at OM back in February.

Here's the synopsis:

Pacific Digital DVDR - THey sent me an e-mail saying my rebate application was invalid because of an illegitimate UPC code. That was for $50, so after a few mild heart attacks over the weekend, I called them up and the guy says "Oh, no problem, I can validate it for you". WTF? I think they were just playing games to see if they could get out of giving me my money back.

Kensington USB FLash Drive - Received e-mail that they are sending me a check for $10. THat's nice, but my rebate receipt clearly says $15. Jerks!

Minolta 1350w lazer printer - Didn't get an e-mail for 6 weeks; called and they said they didn't receive anything, so I missed the deadline. After going around and around with them, they finally said someone spelled my name wrong, and they did have it. Putz!

Considering that dealing with OM is like dealing with the Gestapo, in my book, OM is as bad as Best Crap.

Just my 2cents on OM rebates. Do everything perfect. Neatly print all required info. Check the right product. If there is a substitution write it down so someone can read it. Tape the upc where they can find it - make sure you get the product upc and not the shipping upc (sic). Highlight the product on the reciept so someone can find it, highlight the date of purchase. Sign and date it. Give them an email address so you can catch a problem. If a copy of upc is acceptable, copy and send it and state it is a copy in bold print per requirements - also state you sent the manufacturers rebate with the original if it applies. Make copies of everything. Make the address readable on the envelope. Mail it long before it needs to be. .

Seriously, I never got burned again after doing all the stuff above. I build and upgrade and buy things for other people all the time and some things at OM have really good AR prices. I have had to resubmit one or two- but thats when complete copies are handy. As an after thought I really hate rebates... so be it, if I can't get a better price otherwise.

I think the Norton Professional 2004 looks like a decent price, however, is 2004 really as bad as people say it is (Minus the activation part)? And the pro has two licneses, right? TIA.

Whats the deal with the 100pk cd's? Using the sku given, they show as a 100pk of CD-RW's.

Would be a killer deal for 100 rewritables free AR. Anyone have any history with this Ridata brand? Probably just cheap Taiwan crap but for free AR not bad I guess.

OMax/MaxMyRebates just changed their rebate submission forms. Before, they jammed 100 items in tiny print on one form. Not surprisingly, there were all sorts of issues with the wrong rebate item being processed, rebate items being left out during processing, etc.

Now, each item has its own submission form.

Just got back from Omax,
I got a 100pk of ridata 48x cdr-s in a plastic spindle case. there were several cartons of them on display.

I also got the 100pk DVD+R's , they were ridata 4X in a plastic spindle case .

It seems that people were going nuts for the cd-r's and ignoring the dvd+r's at my local store. go figure.

Does anyone know what the substitution item for the dvd's is?
It looks like i may have gotten one of the few 100packs they had.
