I do agree, not everyone who says a perp is a cop is grouping them all together, however, that does not discount the fact that people on this very forum do. But, of course, I am the bad guy for calling them out, however, I'm sure I'd be hailed as a hero (by one side) for lumping all of (conservative or liberals) all in the same group.
He's said in this thread he still would want police, but I think he is sickened by the lack of accountability they have. Also the thin blue line mentality about otherwise good cops covering for the bad ones because of the brotherhood aspect of it.
The US has almost 800,000 police. Let's say a camera costs a measly $10. That is $8 million, not counting any infrastructure.
Police also have to make decisions on when to act in an extremely limited amount of time. During a violent situation, such as a riot, they don't get the luxury to sit back at the desk and analyze the situation from afar. They get to experience what could easily turn violent and react in order to protect lives and property.
And? $8 mil is peanuts compared to what they spend on the rest of their toys. And still nothing compared to what they spend on mega payouts to people like the little girl in the OP who can tackled by that gangster. My county budgets $55k on a fully equipped intercepter sedan, and each officer has about $15k worth of gear on him between his armor, tazers, guns in the car and whatever else. They're walking around $70k expenses, so spare me the drivel on a camera being too expensive.
Desk or no desk, cop or no cop, that girl was not doing a thing wrong. She was on the 'peaceful' side of the line, on the phone.
If that cop can't determine if someone is holding a phone or a gun before he full speed tackles them then he sure as hell doesn't need to be a LEO pulling over my family members.

I have seen nowhere on this forum where anybody even insinuated that all cops are bad, or that they assume every cop they meet is bad. I certainly have not done that, I am actually good friends with a couple of cops who are ok guys.
However, the overwhelming opinion (both public and from former cops) is that the "good" cops protect the bad cops or they get bullied out. It's a disgusting, sick system where a good cop has to actively try to keep his head low and not get caught in the chaff.
That's a messed up system, where the very worst most violent bad cops basically run everything. O wait, that's pretty much how a gang runs isn't it?
