his stats don't say much and that's all I had when I heard about it but the analysts on TSN say he's big and can skate... and will be better than Zubrus in 2 years. Not bad for the Caps who'd end up with nothing in a few months.

Yep, for a "Player TBA" and a 2007 first rounder. The first rounder I'm not too worried about since we have our own and NJ's pick. I'm worried about the "Player TBA" hehe.

exactly why i was saying he's overrated. could he be better than zubrus in 2 years? it's possible, but i wouldnt say it's likely. i think it was a good trade for both sides. novotny was a fill-in forward for buffalo; he's easily replaced by the talent in rochester (hopefully stafford ), if zubrus turns out to be merely a rental. washington takes a chance on a potential first line forward and gives up a guy theyd lose after the season anyways.
