I'm pulling for OSU but I really don't know how to look at this game. OSU's offense should good but the defense is suspect. Texas lost their primary weapon in Vince Young. Should be an interesting and good game.

The defense needs to figure out how to cope with the loss of Greenway & Hodge. I'm kind of scared of the Defense this year.

Iowa should be solid, I agree...

OSU Texas is the best non-conference game this year, USC ND is a close second

Texas still has a ton of returning talent, but don't get too excited about 'arm strength' when talking about Texas QB's - experience at the QB position is HUGE in NCAA football, and OSU has a giant edge there. Texas fans didn't see much of Troy Smith last year, but he'll give them plenty of Vince Young flashbacks, he's as close as it gets to Young in the country this year.

I think OSU pays Texas back for their loss last year, but I wouldn't be surprised to see this as the only game Texas loses until bowl-time.

OSU did lose a ton of talent from last year, but their D has been top 20 under Tressel every year, and talent-wise they are stocked, two very good DT's, still a ton of speed at LB, and a deep secondary.

Remember this name - Chris Wells, freshman RB, OSU - Think Eddie George, but faster.

Texas is still the same team, without vince.

In favor of OSU, troy, teddy, and antonio were the snap crackle and pop of the offense that put up 617 yards on 5th ranked ND last year. That's way more than USC, the then "OMGBestOffenseEver" got for you doubters.

But these rankings are just guesses, especially OSU with 2 returning defensive starters from arguably the best defense in the NCAA last year.

I've seen chris wells run and he is incredibly fast, strong, and nimble. We will see how his ability to make decisions and find holes stacks up. I expect later in the season we will see him and pittman as dual tb's.

Yes, exactly. "without vince" and they lose easily to OSU and USC last year. He was clearly the difference. If he was a RB or WR, they could possibly get by without him, but he was the QB...they need the rest of their team to step up and be much better without him to have the same success they had with him, which I don't see happening.

We'll see.

Well lets see. Texas loses Vince Young, and most of it's offensive line. Ohio State hardly lost anyone...

OSU will win, unquestionably.

i don't know about 'lose easily'. the same defense would have been on the field holding down OSU's offense. without vince texas probably would have recruited a different quarterback of a high caliber (the prospect of having to compete for playing time with vince kept QBs away, which is why we've now got 2 freshmen). limas sweede would still be able to make an acrobatic catch if the ball was tossed his way. heck, another QB might have had a better arm.

I'm hoping OSU wins so they can come into Kinnick Stadium on Sept. 30 for a huge game with Iowa undefeated. It will make the Hawks' victory much sweeter.

wow you're completely uninformed... UT still has 3 AA quality offensive line starters returning and 2 very capable players taking the place of Scott and Allen.

Oh.. and I think tOSU lost 9 defensive starters?!?

Oh, I guess when the anouncers last year were saying

"Vince Young will be smart to enter the draft this year, because next year's team will not be as good and Texas will be losing key offensive linemen"

They were wrong? I'm just going by what they said...

OSU lost most of it's starters on D last year. They have talent, but we will have to wait and see how quickly the develop.

As far as their O goes, I think this will be the most explosive offense we have seen at OSU in the last ten years.

I'm expecting a close game, but I can't really make any judgements until I see how Colt is gonna lead the offense.

In either case, I think it's awesome that the two programs agreed to this non-conference series. Good competition is much more exciting than blowouts of no-name schools.

OSU ranked #1 at the beginning of the season? Kiss of death. I bleed scarlet and grey, but even I don't think we'll still be #1 by the end of the season.

As for the game, I hope it's as good as the one last year. While I wish the Bucks had won, I can't complain about the quality of the game. Last year's OSU vs. UT game was easily in the 5 best games of the season.

Agreed. The best games last year, IMO:

1. Texas v. USC
2. USC v. Notre Dame
3. Michigan v. Penn State
4. tOSU v. Texas
5. West Virginia v. Louisville

The craziest thing about that list is that three of those games happened on the same day.

well I cheered for Texas once in my life, and I think that's enough (national championship, good for the Big 12) -- So as the saying goes, my second favorite team is whoever is playing the Longhorns..Gig 'em
