That's around 460$ in Denmark excluding VAT. These are FE prices. FED hike will make USD stronger and lower these prices a tad tho.

Its not a 50% increase. There will be cheaper models too. Just as the 1080 have shown.

You could also buy 970 cards way over MSRP.

I bet Nvidia will sale like zero 1070 in EU...

And nobody would buy a 699$ 1080 either....

329euro 970
51% price increase.

Your prices are made up. Also you choose to ignore the 379$ 1070. And a 329$ 970 would cost 352€ in Germany.

Prices have gone up between 15% and 36½% depending on how you see it. And its a card that is pretty much 2x of a 970 in both performance and VRAM.

Honestly, those prices kind of suck.

This is more than an overclocked 980 sells for right now. Obviously the 1070 is faster, but it's not much of a jump in terms of price vs performance.

And GTX980 have worst price/perf on market..

those prices sucks. No way 1070 will be same price/perf king like GTX970.It is far worse product than GTX970 even with 3.5GB..

Russian prices are $529 US for the 1070 and $831 US for the 1080. Big joke. In Canada, the 1080 is $789 USD after tax in my province. My 7970 OC that demolished a 580 OC by > 40% cost $400 USD new and came with 3 AAA games. Effectively this makes 1080 double what one of the best after-market 7970 cost me. This forum and others online hated on the 7970....but 1080 is forgiven. Double standards FTW!

It actually cost me less to buy all 3 of my Hawaii chips than a single 1080 FE costs in Canada. I fully expect GP102 to have $799 or even $899 MSRP in the United States.

That's rather ironic coming from you, considering you hated the 7970 when it launched too. Haha. It took months before you started to change your tune. Months with price cuts and bundles to be exact.

but isn't that normal? great even? the price cuts = better perf/dollar the fact that RS changed his opinion after the cuts actually shows RS as someone 100% impartial.

NVIDIA is basically leaving the entire mid to high range open for AMD, and focusing only on enthusiasts with the 1070/1080. Will be interesting to see if Polaris can capitalize on that.

As the saying goes, there's no such thing as a bad chip, merely a chip with a bad price. It performed reasonably for that price, but it came after a period where AMD provided incredibly reasonable prices for their cards so it certainly felt as though they were jacking up the prices. Also I don't think that anyone at the time would have predicted that at a time when AMD was stepping up their compute performance that Nvidia would move towards eliminating much of theirs which also made AMD the default choice for mining.

In dk where you live the 970 starts at kr 2550 - 1070 is kr. 3900. Pretty much 50% to me. An msi 970 gamer is kr. 2625 hardly a difference.

And my msi 970 oc to 1549 mhz. And the 1070 is twice as fast? Lol.
What a bunch of nonsense as usual but i guess your brain is tuned for buying the 1070 no matter what? You are a prisoner in gforce country.

Agree. Thats what makes rs so good. He follow price and driver development and ajust recommandations to suit it.

You are hopefully not using todays 970 prices because that's like 300$ compare.

GTX 970 at release was 329-379.
GTX 1070 will be 379-449.

At release the msi 970 gaming was kr. 2800 for a fine piece of engineering with low noise. 2800 vs 3900 today with probably some weak ass vrm and cooler.
There is a steep price increase. No way around it.
The 1080 is kr. 6150 wtf !
Whats the next step 2k euro for a big core? Heck a new highend is born.
We need some more compettition.

I'm PCSing to Germany in a few months, how are the prices for cards over there? 424 Euros is a bit more than the 450 USD MSRP for the FE card.

Prices in Germany are quite a bit higher because everything gets our 19% vat and we tend to get ripped off a bit.

On a sidenote, good news, there are actually 1080 models listed at Nvidias non-FE MSRP of 665€ on the pricecrawler Geizhals.de. Well, technically they're listed at 669€. And 'they' is actually only one model from KFA². Still, that's 120€ below FE in a reasonable timeframe.
