The sport of kings that is 133 years old comes once again to mark the start of the most difficult to obtain titles - The Triple Crown.

Every horse in this race can win. It's impossible to handicap/pick these horses. It's like predicting who will be the best running back in college in their sophmore year.

http://www.kentuckyderby.com/2007/

Post your picks. Like a name? Take him and post it. Any horse can win. Your prize is "I told you so!" or "I made some money on him".

spidey picks:
Scat Daddy - he's the horse, he comes in 1/2
Curlin - Morning line favorite/most likely betting favorite, won't win but a good bet to come in the money with some exotics.
Street Sense - too much hype over this guy

-----------------------------------------------------
-edit-
Owning myself...
"Street Sense - too much hype over this guy"
The derby showed what he is made of. Hype was justified.

Official results:
7 - Street Sense
8 - Hard Spun
2 - Curlin

At his price and from what I've heard, a win/place/show bet on him could be good. I'm putting money on him and tossing him in with exotics.

-edit-
what you got against scat daddy? He's what, 5th pick? That's a great price for a good horse.

I just find the name funny in a disgusting sex act kind of way.

He's a good horse; seen him run a race up at saratoga last year; impressive; has the top trainer in Todd Pletcher (has 4 horses in the derby) and one of the best jockeys in Edgar Prado.

Watch out for Circular Quay with John Velasquez and whichever horse that Fernando Jara is riding (he has been hot this past year).

You really like Nobiz Like Shobiz! I like your exacta. Derby exactas usuall pay VERY well. The pools get into the 20 million+ for a single race.

Zanjero, Storm in May and Imawildnadcrazy guy could be good 2, 5 or 10 dollars across the board bet. They're all 30 or 50 to 1 and that will likely increase.

Buzz is on Hardspun starting in position 7, a good place to be.

The derby is so tough to pick I normally just take 3 numbers and box them in an exacta for a few "see what happens" bets. So for that one:

14 - scat daddy
9 - liquidity
3 - Zanjero

Nobiz is a good horse, but scat daddy has beaten him twice.

Bump.

It's here. The buzz on all the runners is going to throw the odds all over the place. Especially given the track conditions.

Most of the races are on ESPN at 12:00 EST with NBC taking over at 4:30. Hopefully they will all be in HD.

The freaking queen of England is here.

I swear I've spent 10+ hours handicapping this race. It's anybody's game. Teuflesberg is getting the buzz as is great hunter.

Doesn't make a whole lot of sense given their outside post positions and a sloppy track.

Look at Tomlinson numbers, could be a key factor here.

Hey, you got your pick in so if he wins you can come and brag about picking the derby winner.

Most likely. We got a ton of rain yesterday with a chance for more rain today, but it's sunny? However churchill is one of the best tracks for drainage. I'm surprised at how good the track looks actually. There's a chance that it will be upgraded from sloppy by the time the derby is run.

It's sloppy right now.

Spidey, how are you betting? I have a youbet.com account that I never deposited money into. I got this email from them the other day -

t is with deep regret that I must inform you that, for the first time in five years, Youbet.com will not be offering wagering on the Kentucky Derby. As a valued member of Youbet.com, you are entitled to an explanation.

The rights to wagering on the Kentucky Derby are controlled by TrackNet Media Group, which is the joint venture formed by Churchill Downs Inc. and Magna Entertainment Corporation. As a condition for accepting wagers on the Kentucky Derby, TrackNet demanded that Youbet.com stop carrying races from a number of racetracks. These tracks include, among others, Aqueduct, Belmont Park, Calder Race Course, Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Monmouth Park, The Meadowlands, Oak Tree at Santa Anita, and Saratoga.

We didn't think this demand was fair to you, our track partners and their horsemen. Furthermore, we didn't want to drop a summer and fall's worth of great racing just so we could carry the Derby. Click here to view the opinion of national horsemen?s representatives.

If you want to join us in expressing dismay with the circumstances that are preventing you from wagering on the 133rd running of the Kentucky Derby with your favorite online wagering service, you may contract TrackNet Media directly:
