Wow, LeBron cannot miss...

LeBron is the only one who can do anything at all for the Cavs.

Yea really....I'll point it out AGAIN that this was a poorly, poorly, HORRIBLY officiated game on BOTH sides of the ball.

Detroit should have won this game at the end of the fourth, Cleveland SHOULD have won at the end of the first OT and that shot by Sheed should have been a foul on cleveland...

David Stern you can suck my left nut....

And Lebron....congrats for encouraging more young people to discard the idea of team playing...its great that he's so good but it also makes Cleveland looks *that* bad...At least Jordan had a TEAM that was great.

Umm you sound like a big cry baby. GO CAVS!!!!

Keeping the refs performance in perspective - if Lebron was MJ going to the basket relentlessly like that thru the 4th quarter and two overtimes, he would have gotten atleast another 10 free throws from ticky-tack fouls. Lebron wasn't given favoritism when it counted imo.

I'm no fan of the officiating this playoffs, but it was great to see Lebron win the game and not the refs win the game for him.

The officiating was downright horrible. Guys on both sides were getting the ever loving crap hacked out of them around the basket and not getting a call only to turn around and get some lame ass blocking or reach in call on the perimeter.

The refs didn't win or lose the game though. Lebron simply elevated to a level above anyone else on the floor. He hit a couple HUGE three pointers that were incredibly difficult baskets. He parted the lane like the red sea and drove in for a couple crowd killing dunks. He hit crucial free throws when needed(although he could have won in regulation if he hadn't missed two). He made a game saving steal at the end of regulation. You couldn't ask him really to do anymore.

I just wonder how much he has left in the tank for game 6.

Well the same question can be poised for the pistons who were also out on the court for 2 OT's chasing lebron like lost mice.

Woah...I just went back and checked the box score....

Billups played 53 minutes...3 more than Lebron. I didn't realize he was in that much.

Yeah the Pistons logged heavy minutes because almost none of them fouled out!

So I think that if anything the pistons would be more tired then the Cavs. Just my two cents.

I have to confess I haven't read all the posts, but I have to comment on a few that I did read:

McDyess is a good guy - but he deserved what was called - a hard foul is one thing, making sure a guy doesn't get a layup is one thing - but a closeline on a guy's head is another thing - if you want to prevent a layup, wrap up the arms, or give a good shove - don't pull some WWE crap, that's a good way for someone to really get hurt.

As for the officiating in this series, at least it's been consistent - but again, the last drive by LeBron in game 2, which Hamilton committed at least 3 seperate fouls, wasn't called, so I'm not sure you can complain about other plays without mentioning that one - just an example, but on LeBron's dunk last night in regulation, he was CLEARLY pushed by Prince, as if Prince was trying to prevent the layup, and nothing was called, which was why LeBron landed and immediately looked at the refs. You could probably call a foul on Lindsey Hunter on every play he's guarding someone, his hands are all over them, and Wild Thing pretty much commits a foul or a flop on just about every play he's involved in.

Bottom line on the officiating in this series - even I'd say.

This just in for you Golden State fans - Al Harrington, Stephen Jackson, and Baron Davis are NOT young players. Davis is a tremendous talent, but this playoff run was the best he's played in the last 6 or 7 years, and him staying healthy and in shape has always been an issue - and will continue to be an issue. Barnes is likely to leave - and he was actually a crucial player for you.

The West is still going to be the Suns - who have two #1 picks in the upcoming draft, the Spurs, the Mavericks, and then the Rockets and the Jazz - and the Lakers are about to add Jermaine O'Neil, so they should be better as well.

LeBron is 22 - he'll be plenty rested for game 6.

Nothing like going back home to play in front of the home crowd after a battle like that. I think the rest of the Cavs will step up offensively too, in the very least out of pride, for contributing virtually nothing offensively down the stretch in game 5. They had better, because the Pistons are going to take the 'James rules' to a new level in the fourth quarter of game 6.

The ugly: They Indy 500 coverage during the rain delay had a higher rating than the Sterns-Jazz game.

i still don't know why anyone thinks the NBA has the fix in for the Spurs - the NBA and most of the country hate the spurs. They are the 30th largest market. this means very few people watch which means less $$ for everyone involved.

The NBA would have gained much more with a Suns-anyone finals.

so get over yourselves. we're a series past the second round. stop whining about the suns.

I had totally lost all interest this year after the Stu(pid) Jackson fiasco in the Suns series, but last night's performance by Lebron was just ..wow. Been a while since we saw something like that. Too bad the Spurms will still win.

That was one of the most single game experiences that I've ever been blessed to experience.

Charles Barkley just about had a joygasm at the post-game conference. LeBron simply could not be denied. I was going for the Pistons, but I was just awestruck. About half-way through 1OT, I realized that Detroit had no chance. That was unreal.

Anyone know when they're going to show a replay?

Not likely for a while, on espn classic.

You can buy it from Nba.com for $3, $13 for the entire series, $80 for a vid of each game of the entire playoffs. (commercials all cut out, drm'd)

pistons vs cavs game 6 tonight.

can the cleveland lebrons close it out? or can the pistons scrap together their pride and push this thing back to the Palace for a game 7?

as a pistons' fan, i can only take solace in the fact that every game has been so damn close. unfortunately, in close games, the "superstar" has a chance to take over and the only "superstar" in this series is on the cavs...

Pistons in 7
(please!)

I'm rooting for the Cavs so I can watch Lebron play in the finals. I don't have cable, you see... The Spurs vs. the Pistons, to me seems relatively boring. :Q I presume the finals will be on broadcast TV.

Here's hoping Lebron will build his legacy more tonight, and give us a repeat stunning performance to closeout the Pistons.

But the Pistons can build on their legacy too as a pressure performer with a win in Cleveland.

Gotta love it, this is going to be a good one.

A loss tonight and I feel that there will be some big time shake up in the Pistons' core. The core has been VERY successfully for the past 5 years with a NBA championship, Finals appearances, ECF appearances, regular season records, etc. But, this is a watershed moment for this group of players. The Pistons' mantra for so long has been to buck conventional wisdom in the NBA and say that "a team can overcome a superstar". But, in today's NBA it seems that so much is geared towards showcasing individual offensive abilities. Given Chauncey Billups' contract renewal, the amount of money he was thought to command, and the future of some other players......the 2008 Pistons might look very different if things end tonight.

This game (and potentially the next) is huge for the Pistons franchise.

They seem more built to take on Shaq with all the pf's than to slow an aggressive guard like James. Noone wants to suggest the loss of Ben Wallace will affect the outcome, but their big name replacement/addition, Chris Weber, has been a near complete useless dud. He's always in foul trouble, puts out as much energy as a wrist watch battery, and only occasionally hits a useful basket or tip in. He's dead weight imo and certainly no help containing Lebron.

I'm not convinced Flip Saunders is a big game coach either, and if the Pistons lose, his name might be drug thru the mud as well.

I finally had a chance to watch Cavs/Pistons Game 5. If you're a Cavs player, how can you even celebrate after that win!?!?

What they should have done was get in line to thank Lebron & ask for an autograph & maybe offer to wash his jockstrap. Or perhaps meet him in the lockerroom bearing gifts.

Just wow.

That's about it. I think its reminiscent of how Jordan indirectly made his teammates better simply by being so great...they realized they had better step up and help their leader, or their future positions on the team could be in jeopardy. I think pride will not only help them step up tonight, but also fear of not contributing again.

To their credit tho, they for the most part played very good defense.

i really can't appreciate the game, because of the emotional vested interested i had in it. i've downloaded it and maybe i'll watch it in about 10 years and appreciate LBJ's performance

Well 31 free throws to our 16. Refs are giving you all the oppurtunity that you need. Though Pistons are going to win this one.
