Utah will be very good in 3 years. Tim Duncan will retire, and the Spurs will have to rebuild. Though I am not sure that Portland won't be the next team in the West to dominate. They have a perfectly set table going into the draft. Utah, Dallas, and Pheonix get 2 more shots before they have to deal with a real trailblazer, not jailblazer team.

It sucks for the east though. They have a tough road ahead if they can't get some luck in the draft next year.

Oh, and Go Spurs!

I disagree with your statement about only the fairweather fans wanting run and gun basketball. In my opinion the Phoenix Suns embody the way the sport should be played, and Nash was just spectacular to watch in every way. Just wish that fricking incident hadn't happened. Stu(pid) Jackson hurts yet another team.

Just like the GSW/Jazz series. SA takes 1 and 2 at home, the Jazz explode to take game 3 but lose game 4 at home, then get blown out in game 5. SA wins series 4-1. GG

Yes, the spurs won but 25.

They didn't even play starters in the 4th Quarter. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the bench players get some minutes in the Western conference finals. That is something you will never be able to take away from them (though I mean they are NBA players so getting on the floor can't be everything).

Williams played on a lame foot. He wasn't the same player as in the previous games. Plus Fisher was out the first half. Losing one starter and having a gimped up all star tends to put a damper on your game. The last 3 games were very competitive.

Ultimately though, SA just had far more weapons to go to. If Utah doubled up on Duncan, it left somebody on the wing wide open for a three or for the cutter to slash in for an easy layup. If they tried to plug the lane Bowen or Finley were wide open for 3's. I don't think Utah even recognized that Oberto had a Spurs jersey on. He was left open the entire series and controlled the paint for SA. I think half the rebounds this series either landed in his hands or were deflected off of them in some way or another.

i think that was one of the Spurs best games all year.. they were hitting 75% from the floor at one point in the 1st half. Everything seemed to fall last night.

one of the commentators hit the nail on the head with his description of them being "savagely efficient".

they really played their own game - not the other team. it was great to see. i actually felt bad for the Jazz b/c it seemed like every call went against them and every bounce was off the rim.

Game 1 of the Finals, national television. LeBron, guarded by Bruce Bowen, pulls up for a jumper. Bruce does his patented, stick his foot under the jump shooter as he's coming down. LeBron sprains his ankle badly and will miss 1-2 weeks.

What does David Stern do? After doing little or nothing to curtail Bowen's "defense" during the regular season or the rest of the playoffs, does he take action now, when Bowen has taken out the NBA's golden child on national TV?

What I'm wondering is what the Fvck is up with this series and the crazy refs...they make some really cheap shouldnt have been a foul calls and then so many non calls that SHOULD have been fouls...when Rip drives the lane and 3 men converge and he pin balls off all 3 and you are telling me not one of them fouled him?!

what a horribly referred game on BOTH sides of the ball....

Not to mention way to lose it for us Chauncey by playing lets take a 3 pointer instead of driving the damn lane with 10 seconds left....
