That's true, but no one whines like Toronto. Sissies!
Dallas Stars!
<plugs ears as Buffalo fans whine and cry>
Naw, were over that. It was painfully obvious Hull was in the crease, everyone knows that. The Stars were the superior team in that series though.
The refs didn't help out the Sabres as usual.
I work for the NHL so my opinion counts more than any of yours, besides the fact that I live in one of the greatest hockey towns ever, Los Angeles.
Detroit will win the cup. Make your bets now.
haha, LA one of the greatest hockey towns ever? Riiiiight. I'd put them right around number 30, mabey 29. Detroit will make a run, but won't win it.
Hey I thought that was close to being a closer game. Isles don't miss the net on a few opportunities and you never know... but that may be as close as it gets this series. Dubie played pretty well though!
Dubie was the only reason the game wasn't 6-1. The isles got dominated in all aspects of the game. One of the only things they have going for them is that they actually look like they WANT IT, unlike the Pens.
Having seen the reply at around 7PM, they must have seen him with his head down and turning his fot to push the puck in. No one on TV is showing it....very frustrating.
By the rules, I don't think it was kicking motion, but an intential redirection with his feet. Can't change the rules now though?!?!?!?
It was a total momentum killer to. With that goal, Ottawa might not have gotten so many goals and it might have been closer.
I was surprised they disallowed that goal. I didn't see an intentional kick towards the puck, unless Crosby is REALLY good at looking innocent. I figure that they would give the goal to the league's "savior". Toronto must still be mad that their team isn't playoff worthy and hasn't gotten near a cup in 40 years.
Here is my opinion about the first games of the playoffs...
Pens arn't getting past the first round. Fluery does not look like a playoff level goalie by any means. He may just have had a bad game but he looked skittish, made a lot of bad plays around the crease and looked like a very green rookie. On top of that the entire Penguins team didn't look like they wanted it at all. Therrien said that they were "feeling it out for the first game", there is no time to feel your opponent out in the playoffs. The pens either looked like they were nervous or appeared to be skating as if they have some swagger from such a strong finish in the regular season. I don't think the Pens have what it takes to make it through. If the pens lose their next game they are going down.
The canucks didn't deserve to win that game. I fell asleep within the first 5 minutes of the third OT. Dallas was all over them. Luongo was the only player to keep the canucks in the game. If Dallas keeps up that pace the Cancks won't last.
The Devils actually scored some goals, which is a big surprise. Holmqvist single-handedly lost that game for his team. Brodeur gave up more than I would have expected, but still looked good as usual. The game was decided by special teams, turnovers, goalie skill and a single dumb play. Tampa has a chance, but will lose in 6, mabey 7 if their 100 pointers put some past Brodeur.
The Rangers v. Thrashers game actually looked decently even, but the rangers have extra little something with experienced playoff players. Trashers will give the rangers a run for their money late in the series because they are a streaky team, but the rangers will take it in 7.
The sharks blew a 2 goal lead and lost cheechoo, it doesn't look good. The cheechoo hit wasn't an intentional dirty play, but not a single sharks fan will agree with me. Sharks arn't going to have the grit it takes to stay in this series. Preds in 6.
The wings basically destroyed the flames. The flames will lose the next game in Detroit, then win at home for game three, then lose the next two. There won't be a repeat upset like last year. Wings in 5. Wings won't win in the second round though, they arn't all that impressive. It's easy to get a lot of points when you beat up on teams who only gain 50-60 points in an entire season. Detroit is overrated.
The ducks didn't look all that great in their season opener, although they didn't have their starting goalie. Minnesota's superior defense will come together later in the series and beat the ducks.
As for the Sabres, they are the team to beat and will be hoisting the cup for us lowly folks in Buffalo.
