I actually prayed to god. It worked.
The same type of shot the rangers won in OT in the last OT game.
I shaved off 2 years and 3 of my finger nails for that game.
A shot from the point that went in off the post is not comparable to a lucky shot from the point through the 5 hole that wasn't even deflected. I was surprised that it wasn't tipped when they showed the replay. With the skill of goalies these days, shots like that never go in anymore. Sabres got lucky. Not saying this as a fan of either team. It's simply fact.
Sorry, the shot wasn't lucky. The shot went right through all defenders and into the 5 hole. The shot was directly comparable (mabey) to the OT shot from the point in game three (from Rozsival). You're comparing a screen shot through traffic, off the post, from the point from Rozsival who said, and I quote (from game three):
"Everybody was really tired, I guess," Rozsival said after logging a game-high, 38 minutes, 16 seconds. "I was just focusing on hitting the puck, and I was lucky enough that I had a lucky shot."
...to a shot from afinagenonv who was again from the point, hardly screened and went directly into the net. Riiiiight.
To quote Renney from game five (tonight):
"It's a tough loss, plain and simple," coach Tom Renney said. "We weren't close to being the better team on the ice tonight. It was close for one reason, and that was our goaltender."
Yea, the Sabres were "lucky" alright, lucky they didn't blow out the rangers 5-1 and get their egos inflated for game 6. God love lundqvist, he kept his boys in this one.
Buffalo outplayed the rangers in just about all aspects of the game (as they should) and took a hard fought win. The only thing the Rangers beat the Sabres in was penalty minutes, in which they took 2 less. Beyond that they got beat in numbers and heart. But as a hockey fan you should know that.
Since you're comparing Dougie to Drury, it would help if you well, knew what you were talking about. Yes Dougie was a great hockey player with fantastic heart, but in the long run he will never be as good as Drury. I love dougie, he played for the Sabres, Leafs, Blues, Blackhawks, Flames and the Devils (apparently he wasn't the valueable, eh? ) . He played hard and always had his head in the game, but so does Drury. Though Drury has more accolades than Gilmour, will gain more through this professional career and will end up the vastly better player, this is fact. I will always have a place in my heart for Gilmour, but Drury is clearly a better player, teammate and sportsman.
In the end you don't have to be a fan of either team to acknowlege that Buffalo was the better team this game, and is overall the better team.
