Agreed, but the games were only close if you were watching by score ticker only.

Ottawa was the better team in nearly all periods, and if not for Miller, it would have been lopsided on the scoreboard as well.

All the critics calling out the Sabres, and sparing Miller need to take a closer look at the games. Only reason Miller was able to play so well: automatic penalty if any Sens player hit him.

Sabres were rattled by Sens forecheck and unrelenting neutral-zone pressure. For a team that was touted to be "much faster" than the Sens, they did not look one-stride quicker.

Hey SampSon,

****** you, eh!

Seriously though, Ottawa is a funny hockey market...

Sens fans are used to being outnumbered in their own building by loud obnoxious Leafs and Habs fans... It's just a natural response that has developed, mostly due to immaturity and frustration.

I'm not saying it's right, I'm saying, give us another change to win your hard-earned US dollars

You're saying the only reason Miller played well was because he wasn't afraid of being run? Please tell me you're kidding. Miller played mind-blowingly well for nearly the entire Sabres playoff run. He seemed to be the only Sabre giving it his all night in and night out and he single-handedly kept Buffalo in games or won games the Sabres had no business even being in. It just wasn't enough to overcame a punishing Senators team who manage to finish the chances they get. I thought it was pretty clear how well Miller played to any hockey fan, regardless of what team they cheer for.

Oh, that's my problem. I didn't watch any of the Sens/Sabres series. I just stare at the score ticker. Watching hockey is for REAL hockey fans.

Wow, talk about a hornet's nest

Miller played well, but he did not try harder than any other Sabre player, which seems to be the sentiment.

The other Sabres had to deal with 20 other guys, checking them unrelentingly. Miller did not.

Miller did his job extremely well, he stopped the puck. Stop blaming the Sabres players for not showing up, and put the blame where it belongs.

Darcy Regier and Lindy Ruff put together a team that is built on speed and balance. They got beat by a team built on a mixture of skill and grit.

You reap what you sow.

The best evidence of this was early on, when Lindy Ruff realized his team could not generate offense against this team, so he put Pominville up with Vanek's line. Desperately trying to put all his eggs in one basket, but it did not work, because that's not the type of team he built.

Sabres got beat by a team playing a better brand of hockey. Just because Ryan Miller was the recipient of a boatload of shots doesn't mean he's the only guy who cared.

Of course he wasn't the only guy who cared but he was one of the top players in the series. He gave the Sabres a chance every game of that series.

One hour until the puck drops. If the Wings can get a bounce or two to go their way, they can win this series.

Let's start a two-game win streak tonight.

I drove 5-6 hours one-way and spend a good $2,000 for the time there, and that was just me, not including my other two friends. I simply won't be going back to Ottawa for a long time. I've been to a dozen cities for hockey games, fully decked out in my gear, in towns that have had worse situations than the Sens fans. I've never experienced anything like that and hope I never have to again. Usually I can at least make a hockey friend or two over the series, the sens fans were having nothing to do with that. All in all, the shittiest group of fans ever and that even includes the Philadelphia flyers fans (which is saying A LOT).

As I said before, I could analyze every game, period and player in the sabres v sens series and write a multi-page article on it. I don't need to because I summed it up in one sentence a few posts ago. But I'll humor some of your points.

If Emery received the kind of pressure Miller did, the Sabres would be in the finals right now or damn close to it. Sure Miller kept them in there, but that's what a franchise goalie is supposed to do. When you look at the stats they make sense. When the Sabres took the shots they are supposed to, the game was within one goal and went into OT. Since the Sabres really didn't show up to play for most of the series and kept the games "close", I would be nervous as a Sens fan.

Ruff juggled lines a lot as he always has. When you have the depth Buffalo does you're afforded that luxury. There is no possible way to put all your eggs in one basket with Buffalo's skill guys, unless you have 2-3 baskets (lines). Now Ottawa on the otherhand has that problem. You shutdown their top line and they are in trouble. Sure in the playoffs the other lesser known guys need to come through, but that doesn't always happen.

I was AT every-single-game of that series and I watched them closely and read/watched all the coverage after they were done. Ottawa should have blown them out with the way Buffalo was playing, but they didn't. In the end the only thing that really, truely matters is the score.

Buffalo didn't show up, got outplayed and wasn't built to have a grind out playoff team. Though none of them ever gave up. Drury is by far the most clutch player in the NHL, and he put that on display this playoff run. Briere came through here and there, but simply isn't big or strong enough to play a grind out hockey game. The Sabres blue liners arn't big or strong enough to stifle large forwards and Buffalos forwards arn't large enough to go to the boards and dominate physically for puck control. I'm sure the past two series of islanders and rangers trying to hit buffalo into oblivion didn't help much either.

Sabres weren't built enough to go all the way, they relied on skill and speed. They lost. Though if I was an Ottawa fan I wouldn't be jumping for joy with the way they played in that series. I would also be praying to whatever god possible that Emery doesn't face any decent shots with a guy ready for the rebound.

In the end the Sens outplayed and won. The Sabres will be back next year with a core group of skill that still surpasses most out there.

Well, the new NHL is here.

The King is dead, long live the King.

The Anaheim mighty Duck-a-lanche have perfected the holding-grabbing-impeding that Colorado won a cup or 2 with. I thought we we're done with that?

First Koharski, now Shick? Does Detriot not send you guys enough freebies? What do you want? Hookers?? Beer?? Hookers AND beer??

If I were the Anaheim Zanboni driver, I wouldn't put a drop of water in it; the Wings rely on skill and passing. The Ducks rely on turnovers and bounces. Let the ice turn to crap; the refs won't do anything.

If the breaks could possibly turn in the next say 20 minutes, the Ducks will be watching WFE for the summer cuz miniture golf is too mind boggling.

3 goals is nothing. Against Giguere though... wow. He is playing solid.

All you need is one early in the 3rd... or before 15:00 or so. If you get the next one with at least 5:00 left, you're stylin. Then you just tie it up, and bang - OT. Anything can happen!

Like I said though... Giggy is ultra solid right now. Remember - he was the last player to win the Conn Smythe in a losing effort He is nails in the playoffs!

Detroit has come out a lot better in the third, finally scoring a goal and giving me a sliver of hope

Slivers of hope open floodgates in this sport... all you need is one to start feeling it. Anaheim better hang on tight - the Wings won't go down easily!
