^ You can still have end-to-end hockey with the mucking and grinding involved. One of my favorite games was the Pens/Caps where they put away their whistles and the continuous flow of the game let each team generate chances - think it was game 4 or 5. I don't want to see 15 powerplays in a hockey game even though that's always nice for your team. I don't want to see the all-star game in the playoffs. You have to earn every inch and to keep the players so restricted as to not be able to shoulder someone at an opportune time - that's not playoff hockey. Call the obvious hooks and holds but "incidental contact" between 2 players fighting for ice or fighting for the puck... that should remain. These are the good battles that show you're in playoff time. Stanley Cup champions shouldn't be "the most skilled team"... that's not earning anything.
