Well Montana didn't look that great once he left the 49ers & went to the Chiefs (no more Rice, Brent Jones, Roger Craig, John Taylor) and Steve Young didn't look that great with the Bucs before he went to the 49ers. So you can't really remove Montana & Young from the system argument.

Show me one Superbowl where Montana or Young looked that MEDIOCRE. JUST ONE.

It didn't happen. Brady CHOKED. His line didn't show up, and HE CHOKED.

interestingly brady looked today a lot like marino in his only super bowl.

Wait a second. Marino was a 20 year old second year player who threw over 5000 yards and 47 TD's playing his first Super Bowl.

Playing against probably THE greatest team to ever play the game.

Yes but that's not a system question, that's a question about play in the superbowl which is a different topic. And to be fair in those super bowls (I watched all 4 of Montana's & the 1 Young was in) the QB had all day to throw. How did Montana look against the Giants in the NFC Championship in 1990 when he was constantly pressured? Aging Montana or a young Young (who played in the USFL beforehand) doesn't refute that they didn't look as good in different systems. I think you're a tard if you consider Brady to be simply a system QB. For the record, I don't think Montana is a system QB - I consider Montana to be the greatest of all time. And Young to be upper echelon QB.

It's basically an exception to the rule. You're allowed to challenge the fact that the refs "ruled" there were the appropriate number of players on the field. There was another challenge of the same order earlier in the season.

why not?

the niners were beatable that season. marino had one of the all time great seasons as a QB, similar to bradys this season. the niners proved the dolphins were pretty much an unbalanced offense, much like the giants did to the pats today.

sure the analogy isn't perfect, but the nests of quotes here was discussing how young or montana looked in playoff games, or how about this, what about bradshaw or staubach?

actually, for the career, i'd say brady looks more like elway than montana.
