I don't get that comparison. Roethlisberger played a terrible superbowl, and his team won that game in spite of him. I don't think anyone disputes that. Eli played a very good Superbowl. I am not a Big Ben hater at all, but the difference in this case is glaring.

I was referring more generally to the attitude against them. They're both successful young QBs who face an undo amount of criticism for reasons I don't understand. Big Ben had a bad superbowl, but played well through the playoffs that year and got a lot of help from a really good defense, just like Manning did. From what I've observed of both of them, they both seem like decent people, yet they attract alot of negative feelings, at least on this board.

On the other hand, they 3rd high profile qb pick from that draft was Rivers, who people seem to have no problem with, despite many recorded instances of acting like a jerk.

Agreed. That catch will be immortalized.

Am waiting impatiently for the clip to appear on youtube...

It's on Giants.com if you want to see it.

Thanks. I just watched it 10 times. Unfvckingbelievable.

Especially since they lost by a FG.

Yea, I was puzzled by that one too, it's an indoor facility and a 49yd FG is a lot
higher % than 4th and 13! BB blew it on that one..

Man...I'm depressed. Can't believe the Pats blew it. I'm even more amazed Eli came up so big. Mid season he was still very erratic. Didn't they say he lead the league in INTs this year? But then they go and win 11 in a row on the road, including Eli coming up clutch in the superbowl, amazing. I can't believe Eli won his first superbowl already, he still looks like he's about 19

It's amazing the Pats won 18, but, without the superbowl, it's means little. What a bummer. I can't believe it. Now to ignore all sports talk/TV shows for the next couple weeks.

Read any football threads on these forums, there is some serious hate for Roethlisberger. My bold prediction for next season: serious undo hate for Eli Manning

That's pretty much SOP for Patriots fans.

Am reading the game review at CNNSI:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.c...ast_recap.html?cnn=yes

And these sentences jumped out at me:

Not that the Patriots were very mighty this day. They even conceded with 1 second on the clock as Belichick ran across the field to shake the hand of Coughlin, then headed to the locker room, ignoring the final kneeldown.

That it was Manning taking that knee was stunning. He showed the maturity and brilliant precision late in the game usually associated with, well, Brady.

Manning won the day on that alone in my book.

I can't wait to watch the interviews with Belichick, Brady, Moss, Welker, and all of the other Patriots.

I'm also looking forward to interviews with Tiki Barber.

Agreed. That catch will be immortalized.

I've seen harder catches.. but not in that situation (Super Bowl, not much time left). What also made that play even more spectacular was how Eli escaped that sack.

I came into this game completely neutral. I decided to cheer for the Giants as they were the underdogs.

All I can say is that Eli came off as totally calm and collected. He came off as a leader in control of his team. And that is a lot considering his age and experience.

He may not go down as the greatest ever, but give him credit. Today is his day.

I rate getting the throw off higher than the catch.
