If that was the greatest drive you have ever seen, then you haven't been watching football that long.
I didn't claim the pass was poorly thrown. I have only been responding to posts made by others. The receiver made that reception happen, not Eli.

I don't think he became an immortal QB. But I think he he should have shut the haters up. He played great postseason football this year. He made plays when he needed to. He didnt make mistakes. He showed that he's more than just a QB who the team can win in spite of. He shouwed he can step up, take the team on his shoulders and go downthe field in clutch time. I don't what more anyone can ask of a QB.
He only made the haters louder. Thoes haters will never shutup until he proves he's better than a 77 rated QB (max lifetime rating). Eli benefitted from an extremely motivated team surrounding him. Eli didn't lead the team, the team led Eli.

There was another QB out there with similar stats who won an upset super bowl, his name was Mark Rypien. Do you remember him? Probably not, most don't without googling him. You won't remember him as the XXVI super bowl winner and MVP, nor will you remember him as doing anything else. He did better than Eli, won a superbowl, took the MVP (where he didn't deserve it), and then went on to fade away into mediocrity, never to see the light of NFL glory again.

Anyway, I'm a Giants fan, so seeing them win warms the cockles of my heart. Do I need to break out my 1987 Phil Simms Jersey from grade school to prove it? Really, who the fuck likes the Patriots? Every patriots fan I've met is a total douche bag.

Bottom line is that I hate Eli Manning. Until a couple hours ago, the vast majority of Gmen nation did too. Now that nation is trampling over each other to suck on Eli's under-developed cock. God love the AM radio guys for giving credit where it's due, like to the rest of the team. Not like ESPN is going to do anything but wear out their M A N I G keys for two weeks.

Can't wait to hear the super bowl fallout talk on Jim Rome for the next two fucking months. Hey wait Baseball is starting up in two months... CANT WAIT! Not to forget that Hockey is entering primetime. Too bad these hackjob assholes can't fathom more than a three sport world. If Football, Baseball and Basketball didn't exist, what would they do!?!?!?

Out.

What I'm trying to say is I don't understand why so many people came into this thread and expressed actual hate for Eli Manning. Disliking the Giants is one thing, but to actually hate a player on their team is just silly.

There are plenty of players around the NFL to dislike for various reasons- dirty play, late hits, breaking the substance abuse policy, having the name Rodney Harrison, etc.

Did Eli have the greatest postseason by a qb ever? No, but he played a good game, won the MVP award on a team where pretty much any starter was deserving of it, and deserves recognition for his accomplishments.

I admit that I gave up on Manning this year. After the Minnesota game I said he is done, he's a bust. But you know what? The kid stepped up. He got it done when he needed to. He proved me wrong. I don't think he's an elite QB yet, but I think he's a very good QB. The team lead Eli? Not on that final drive. And you know what? This is not the first time he's engineered drives like that.

I know the Giants would've lost without the great passrush and the defense. But Eli lead the offense. And he did a fine job of it. The real MVP is Coach Spags. We all know that. But I still think Eli has arrived as a high-quality NFL QB.

I have to wonder....Where are all the Patriot fans on ATOT right now? They were awfully vocal leading up to the Super Bowl, but now they've disappeared.

I gave up on Eli last year. Then he came in, won a few, then shit the bed. I knew Eli did not have what it takes to drive his team to the end.
Eli ended up being a 'good' quarterback for about 5-6 games, including post season. I would not rank him in 'very good' status yet.

I think the best thing that happened to Manning was that Shockey got taken out of the game. It forced Manning to realize there are OTHER receivers on the field.
Develop the running game with Jacobs and the break out Bradshaw and it opens up your pass game, as mediocre as it may be.

Watching the Giants play was like watching a glass vase sway on a boat. Not once did I feel secure they could win.

Eli has arrived as an NFL QB, not high quality yet. It's as if they stumbled into the playoffs for the past few years. Mabey they will put something together.

LOL... Eli wins the Superbowl and he's still getting hate. What a bunch of tools. Seriously, the NYG led the league in dropped passes... is that Eli's fault? In most cases, no. Just like the interception in the first half... not Eli's fault. Up until a few weeks ago he was definitely very streaky, but he had a LOT of help (or lack thereof in this case) from his teammates to make him appear that way.

You mean when he didn't have that asshole demanding the ball all the time? Shockey sucks. They need to ditch that SOB ASAP.

I think he's high-quality after this run, but we obviously disagree on Eli.

The last few years they stumbled in. Not this year. They were 10-6, with a great road record. Then they beat the the top 3 offenses in the NFL when everyone picked against them week after week to take the championship. That was not stumbling. That was just playing good football. They are a well coached talented group.

You didn't feel secure they could win against one of the best teams in NFL history lead by one of the best QB's in NFL history? That's hardly surprising.

This place is only for condolence
s. It serves as a reminder to us all that even the great can fall to the mediocre, and champions can fail. But, we shall prevail.

 :wine: or whatever is your drink of choice.

:brokenheart:

Edit: I'm gonna go to sleep and pretend that none of this has happened, and that I'll see this week another year from now with different outcomes.

Since this is for condolences, keep your flames elsewhere.

I was rooting for the Patriots(because 2 starters are former Fresno State players), but am glad to see the Giants win in a great game.

Dear New England Patriots Fan,

I'm sorry that your cheating asses had your perfect 19-0 season brought to a screeching halt. I'm also sorry your coach is an arrogant ass.

I feel for you guys, but I don't think there are very many mediocre teams that can win 11 road games.

Condolences all the same though. You were mighty close to something special.

I'm more than ecstatic that the Giants won, and I'm a Broncos fan.

That being said, it disappoints me that the NE offense looked nothing like the 56-x and 49-x thrashings they delivered earlier in the season. I mean, it looks like they WERE NOT prepared at all for the Giants defense. Got to give that front 4 their due credit, but on the plays where Brady had time, nothing was happening in the secondary.

And what's with that nixed field goal attempt from 50 yards out? Very un-Belichick.
