Great dude. Awesome and original find.

Yet another thread that will eventually be merged into the God-awful mess that is the super bowl thread.

The receiver got both hands on the ball and it landed right between his two hands. Only after he caught it did he relase with one hand and hold it with his helmet. I can't believe you give Eli zero credit for that drivef.
If that was the greatest drive you have ever seen, then you haven't been watching football that long.
I didn't claim the pass was poorly thrown. I have only been responding to posts made by others. The receiver made that reception happen, not Eli.

I don't think he became an immortal QB. But I think he he should have shut the haters up. He played great postseason football this year. He made plays when he needed to. He didnt make mistakes. He showed that he's more than just a QB who the team can win in spite of. He shouwed he can step up, take the team on his shoulders and go downthe field in clutch time. I don't what more anyone can ask of a QB.
He only made the haters louder. Thoes haters will never shutup until he proves he's better than a 77 rated QB (max lifetime rating). Eli benefitted from an extremely motivated team surrounding him. Eli didn't lead the team, the team led Eli.

There was another QB out there with similar stats who won an upset super bowl, his name was Mark Rypien. Do you remember him? Probably not, most don't without googling him. You won't remember him as the XXVI super bowl winner and MVP, nor will you remember him as doing anything else. He did better than Eli, won a superbowl, took the MVP (where he didn't deserve it), and then went on to fade away into mediocrity, never to see the light of NFL glory again.

Anyway, I'm a Giants fan, so seeing them win warms the cockles of my heart. Do I need to break out my 1987 Phil Simms Jersey from grade school to prove it? Really, who the fuck likes the Patriots? Every patriots fan I've met is a total douche bag.

Bottom line is that I hate Eli Manning. Until a couple hours ago, the vast majority of Gmen nation did too. Now that nation is trampling over each other to suck on Eli's under-developed cock. God love the AM radio guys for giving credit where it's due, like to the rest of the team. Not like ESPN is going to do anything but wear out their M A N I G keys for two weeks.

Can't wait to hear the super bowl fallout talk on Jim Rome for the next two fucking months. Hey wait Baseball is starting up in two months... CANT WAIT! Not to forget that Hockey is entering primetime. Too bad these hackjob assholes can't fathom more than a three sport world. If Football, Baseball and Basketball didn't exist, what would they do!?!?!?

Out.

I'm a 49ers fan so I'm obviously well aware of amazing drives. But what made this so amazing was that I thought I knew the Giants were done. The Patriots had once again pulled off a come from behind victory like they always do. They were barely getting anything going and suddenly there was a bunch of pressure from the D-Line when it had been minimized before. Then I see Eli about to get sacked, and I'm thinking o shit. Then Tyree makes the ridiculous catch even as I expect for it to fall out and become an incomplete. The thing that makes this drive so amazing is that it was against supposedly the greatest team of all time. And I wasn't giving Eli much of a shot after the first few plays. It was against all odds, even for a last minute driving comeback.

no fucking shit. major BS that was. cheating/pushing the rules...and they still lost.

here comes another rule change though, a la "The Tuck"

can't challenge a call that is never called. that's the fucking rule

Agreed. That catch will be immortalized.

I've seen harder catches.. but not in that situation (Super Bowl, not much time left). What also made that play even more spectacular was how Eli escaped that sack.

yeah, its not really that amazing of a catch, its the total play...

the fact that Manning was one drop in the cup from overflowing into a sack but somehow escaped only to find Tyree and to put the ball into a position where Tyree could catch it despite the coverage, and then for Tyree to actually hang onto that catch through the hits all the way to the ground...all with time running low and the game on the line at a crucial point in the drive...

all those factors together make it an amazing and memorable play, not just the catch...

lollerskatz

we give them no credit b/c we know that the REAL Pats/NE/BoSox/Celts fans will give them even less credit than we will. the bandwagoners, of course, will drown their sorrows tonight, and forget that it ever happened.

this is what makes NE fans so sad...and pathetic.

(seriously, I would have loved a lot of the NE teams, had I not lived with a die-hard NE sports fan for 3 years. great guy, but his allegiance to those teams was down-right pathetic. saddening to the point that sports reality becomes a distant memory when discussing such teams)

Stop posting in this thread then LOL.

Did anyone by any chance record the play where Eli got out of the tackle and threw it to Tyree?

and loop it with Brady getting pummeled to the ground by a shoe-string tackle? what a lame-ass no-talent QB he is..

STFU, it's idiots like you that give the rest of us Pats fans a bad name. The Giants beat us fair and square, stop whining, the sooner you stop the sooner you'll get over it.

as I posted somewhere earlier....I retract all of the shit-talk I slung at Eli up until this point (including "The Giants will never win with that d-bag Eli at the helm."

That was major balls. Can't have anything but respect for a play like that. Something Brady has never, and will never be able to pull off. He crumples like a baby when an End or a Lineman approaches him within 5 feet.

I'm a huge Rivers fan, so have a natural dislike for Eli and his pissant dad (well...who wouldn't?); but his play tonight was immortal. I hated having to pull for him and the Giants, but congrats to them. That was classic. Still, The Giants D should have gotten the MVP. Eli had a few great plays, and didn't make mistakes, but the D won that game.

I'm so glad that somebody pointed me that pats board. Some of them have class while others should be put on suicide watch. Here's one of the posts on that board:

The brutal, gut-wrenching reality of this loss

Lets face it gang, the season is a disaster. I don't care how many points the offense scored, I don't care that the team went 16-0, I don't care that Brady and Moss broke records.

They lost. It's a choke. It's the greatest choke in the history of professional sports. It's bigger then the 'Skanks blowing a 3-0 lead to the Sox. It's Game 6 on steroids. It's brutal, it's ugly, and it sucks more then anything that has ever sucked before.

I can't remember the last time I was this upset over something. For all of you trolls out here right now wallowing in our pain...phuck you. Chances are good to excellent that we pounded the piss out of whatever sorry-ass team you root for, and your team was home watching the game.

...why does this suck so incredibly much?

1). the defense had numerous opportunities to put this game away on the Giants' last possession and couldn't seal the deal
2). I hate the Giants and any other team from New York. Losing to these assholes is just plain miserable. Losing to the Cowboys or packers would have blown too, but this is FAR WORSE
3). (and this is the worst)- our season ended in a loss to a Manning, again. And, this time, it was the lesser Manning.

Right now, I absolutely despise the game of football. I hate the NFL, and I'm pretty sure I may never watch another game again. Don't believe me...? After Super Bowl XXXI I didn't watch a game for 2 years.

For those of you who have the guts to watch SC and the news for the next several days, I applaud you. You're better people then me. Yeah, maybe I'm a sore loser, but it hurts so I'm pretty sure that sore is appropriate.

I'm out of here, time to get ready for the Sox. I may get over this, I may not. At any rate, I'm out of here. If I don't come back enjoy life.

The offensive line is to blame for this loss. The Defense played great, but the OL didn't show up tonight. You could've taken people from the stands and they would've done a better job.

Yet you fuckers never give your o-line credit when Brady goes untouched and puts up record breaking numbers.

I've been praising the Pats OL all-season. It doesn't mean they get a pass in the SUPER BOWL, jackass.

Well I've never seen it from you or most of the pats fans. Its all been slobbering on Brady's knob. I suppose you expect them to be the best O-line in the history of the game, or you'll throw them under the bus. Everyone knew what the Giants had to do to beat the Patriots, and they put some effort into it.

The Patriots o-line didn't lose this for their team, the Giants won the game.

Which is another thing. Sure, they orchestrated an impressive drive at the end. That said, Eli played BAD football for 58 minutes. The MVP should have been someone from the defensive line, that kept the Patriots to 14 poitns. Not Eli. He was far from the MVP of that game.

You can hate Eli all you want, that's fine. But he played bad football for 58 minutes? What did he do that was bad? Sure, he messed up on a couple of plays, he is human. I thought he played real well for the most part. The INT was absolutely no fault of his, and he played well. MVP? That was because of the last drive.
Damn straight!!! That drive will go down in history.
I say they call it The Escape.

Call Eli a whiner if you want, but who's crying now? Hint, it ain't the MVP of last nights game.

Eli Manning is a pathetic excuse for a human being. I hope his fancy new Cadillac explodes. I'm going to bed. Goodnight.
I didn't realize you were a 16 year old with raging hormones and acne. Explains your fantasies about Tony Romo. Sleep tight. Hope mommy makes you a comforting and balanced breakfast this morning.
Can't wait for your next season's "official" predictions thread. Bye, bye.

I dont even follow football like a semi-real fan but that last quarter was intense. and looking at the final 4 mins on youtube (giants' final drive) was absolutely stunning.

Edit: I'm gonna go to sleep and pretend that none of this has happened, and that I'll see this week another year from now with different outcomes.

Since this is for condolences, keep your flames elsewhere.

I watched the after coverage on SC until they said Morris was gonna talk. The team that had the hearts and minds of a champion won yesterday, the pretenders got bitchslapped back into reality. Tell yourself the Pats are the champs andthe Giants are mediocre by comparision, your denial is laughable.

Great season stats for the Pats, they can hang their hats on that "accomplishment". We see how good Brady is when he is getting pressured like Big Ben did all of this year. We found out how good they really were. Maybe a bit better than the Vikings during Moss's first year and like hundreds of teams before not even as good as the 70+ that have won titles. History repeats itself, Pats, the biggest joke in the NFL.

Watching people get this worked up over sports is kind of sad. It's entertainment. Being happy/sad that team X won/lost is like getting emotionally involved in American Gladiators. Unhealthy, really.

The ads were horrible, that was about the only travesty.

GIANT UPSET BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, that was the best game ever! I called Eli as MVP days before, and yes, all I got was a cookie, but still.... the Giant's D and Eli and a few extraordinary catches just took the wind out of the Patsie's sails.

<---- Cloud 9 here this morning!!!!!

And why isn't the Monday after the SB a holiday? If I run for President that will be my platform.
