Apparently the if you want to draw a penalty you have to run into someone from behind. Kovalchuk got called for elbowing when Carcillo ran into his his elbow from behind, and Greene got called for interference when a Flyer ran into him while he was leaving the ice.
Worked out well though, Parise got a short-handed goal off the Kovalchuk penalty. Unfortunately the Flyers tied the game on the power play they got from the Greene penalty. It was great to see Kovalchuk fired up, but he needs to be careful not to take penalties unless the other guy is going to get one too. Glad to see him get the two assists, and he made a nice move to get the empty net goal, but I'm looking forward to when he turns one of his breakaways or 2-on-1s into a goal. He creates such great opportunities and then doesn't score. Maybe I expect too much.
I'm not convinced that the game winning goal went off Zubrus's stick. Obviously his stick was pushed by Parise's , but I'm not sure the puck would have gone so high with the puck on the backhand side and Parise pushing his stick. Either way it was great work by both players. Elias is playing great too.
I posted for only the fourth time in six years at njdevs.com, because I'm sick of the the whiny pessimists. Yeah, we lost the first game. There's a lot of that going around. We're still in this series.
