He needs to get an award for weakest apology ever...Should have been at least a 10 game suspension IMO because his past history...

Does he have a past history? I don't watch many Lakers games but I guess I never associated him as being a thug. None the less, I agree though. 5 games is weaksauce. The pure thuggery of the intent, his complete lack of remorse, the size of the guy he did it to, and the utter failure of sportsmanship in the act should have resulted in a much higher penalty.

bloomed with help from biased refs

If you're not a bulls fan, you really don't want all the fouls that happen against Rose to be called. He's an incredibly difficult player to ref because he gets fouled to some degree on almost every drive, either on the reach or into the body, and is near impossible to take a charge against. If some calls were spotty, that's part of the game, but without a doubt, for the most part, there are a lot more fouls that don't get called against Rose, particularly in these playoffs where refs are letting more go. He's so quick and strong, with such a great handle and body control, that it doesn't look like he gets fouled as much as he does.

Either case, last night he absolutely smoked Atlanta's man-to-man and pick/roll perimeter defense. That's what he's done all season tho, particularly in 4th quarters, and when he gets to the rim and is one-on-one with the last line of defense, they don't have much of a chance.

Props to Atlanta, they are an incredible team around the rim when they play with energy and rotate. So much hops, great hands, quick feet, great reach, etc. Smith is a monster in the paint when his head is in the game and he really wants to compete. Horford plays big and Johnson has great hands, so does marvin williams and teague.

Joe Johnson is mentally weak tho. He can be taken out of the game with tough defense and a few missed shots. He's also a sad sack by hiding in the locker room after a loss and only coming in front of the media after a win (atleast that's what I've seen so far.)

How the FVCK is this asswipe still in the league after the Barea hit? Will the NBA wait until someone has a career ending injury from this idiot until they ban him??? WTF??

Atlanta has the pieces and talent to be an awesome team. Maybe next year is their year? Who knows. Look at the turn around they had in the playoffs this year vs. last. I know Orlando is a much weaker team than they were last year, but Atlanta played much harder. Maybe their new coach can reign in the isolation play and get them passing more and defending better. Maybe they'll always been the 'coulda woulda, shouldas" like Denver and Phoenix the last few years.

But Smith, Johnson, Horford, Crawford and Teague (who has been stellar this series) are 5 excellent players that would be welcomed on just about any team in the league. They just seem to be missing some veteran player to whip the young'ns in shape or somebody to step up and take control of the team.

Wow! I thought the 5 games was fair-ish but I knew nothing of his history. Having seen these plays now I think it should of been a 20-30 game suspension with a warning that next time it's a full season then after that it's lifetime. There's no need for that crap in the NBA. Beasley came down awkward one his arm. He could of easily been out with a broken arm or shoulder.

Yep, 5 games isn't enough. Someone with a history like him should have to be accountable for it before someone gets seriously injured by his cheapshots.

I love how Drew is handling this group, which seems to be getting thru to them. He's a coach I knew nothing about before these playoffs.

To have this 'mentally-eclectic' leader-less group playing such solid team basketball, atleast most of the game, is a huge accomplishment. And when they do that, you can really see how much talent each of them have.

I hope they rise above the Denver/Phoenix level...it's entertaining as heck to see such talent play great ball...but unfortunately I'm not betting on it, particularly after paying someone $20/yr while still not having a leader in the locker room.

Robert Tractor Traylor found dead

Former NBA and Michigan big man Robert "Tractor" Traylor was found dead today in his apartment in Isla Verde, Puerto Rico, elnuevodia.com reports. Traylor’s death has been confirmed on the Facebook page of the Bayamón Cowboys, the Puerto Rican team with which Traylor was playing.

The presumed cause of death was a massive heart attack, according to elnuevodia.

Traylor was 34.

Traylor was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks in 1998, and played for seven seasons in the NBA, also with the Hornets (both in Charlotte and New Orleans) and the Cavaliers.

Rondo`s arm is bothering him so much he`s not even shooting it when he`s 100% wide open for a shot.

Is Dampier hurt or something? He started like a 20 game stretch for the Heat but I haven't seen him at all in the playoffs.

What an amazing game. Celtics should be sad that they lost the series but, the game overall was great and they went down fighting. James Jones hitting that clutch Three(his only points in the game) started that whole run. On to Chicago!?!

This year's playoffs was a transition. Out with the old, in with the new. Spurs, Lakers, Celtics all lost early to the young guys.

The game today has to be Lebron's 2nd best game ever, behind the 48 in Detroit but it probably felt the best emotionally to finally beat the Celtics.

That James Jones 3 to bring the lead to 2 was really clutch.

Damn the Thunder and the Grizzlies look to be hung over from that 3OT game. Almost the end of the 1st and I think there has been more turnovers than buckets.

Game four in Boston for Lebron was pretty big too.

He has had a ton of huge games in the playoffs, but his supporting cast hasn't been visible.

Lebron's game 7 45-6-5 in '08 and his 27-13-13 to closeout game 6 in the first round.

His amazing '09 series against the Magic where he put up 49-8-6, 41-9-7, 44-7-12 in losses and 37-12-14 in a win. There is never a good reason for a player to put up sick numbers like that and still lose a series.

In '10 he had a nice three game stretch of 40-8-8, 39-8-10, and 37-11-12 to blow past the Bulls, then his one man show of 38-7-8 against the Celtics. For all the crap people talk about Lebron in that series, he averaged 27 points, 7 assists and 9 boards over six games.
