Official 2010-2011 NBA Playoffs Thread

Now the long wait til Tuesday for the finals. I'm predicting mavs in 6 or 7. Mavs are going to close it out on the heat floor. Mavs are just playing too good of team ball. Mavs are not going to fold like Chicago. Doesnt matter if the mavs get down 20 points. They don't get in a hurry and just methodically work their way back into it. This series is coming down to blood and guts. It's gonna be who makes the right passes, hitting the clutch shots, keeping their poise. I believe the mavs win in that category.

Orlando should be able to tell Chicago to F off, but if Howard is gonna push out they have no choice. Draft picks, maybe some cash, and one of Deng, Noah, or Boozer should be enough. Howard supposedly favors the Lakers though, plus the Bulls need offense, not more defense.

OJ Mayo would be a great fit I think.

Heat in 6, Mavs win games 3 and 5.

The key to this series will be Mavs supporting cast being able to keep up the offense against a defense that doesn't give you space, and whether Dirk is played single coverage.

Also, I'm praying to see Lebron guard Dirk. It's my favorite possible subplot of the series.

Edit: Also, hopefully Dirk doesn't get ridiculously favorable treatment from the refs like he has the rest of this playoffs....just kidding I'm just digging at those who only use FTA stats to prove the Heat get preferential treatment.

Bulls would trade Boozer for a second round pick just to dump that contract so don't count on getting Howard for Boozer. They'd have to give up anyone and everyone(except for Rose) for Howard the magic would want. You saw what it took for New York to get Melo. Think along those lines for Howard and maybe even more. I'd take Howard over Melo and Stoudamire combined.

I'm going to say Mavs in 7. But here's a qualifier, they lose any game ref'd by Danny Crawford, or by Bennett Salvatore in Miami. I'm not sure about Salvatore in Dallas. I don't think they can win the series if they have two of those games.

I agree, Boozer is a total dud and most everyone knows it.

I'm hoping for Mavs in 7, just cause I like to see a long, drawn-out series, and there's a bunch of players on the Mavs who deserve a ring (Dirk, Kidd, Stojakovic, Terry and Marion should all end their careers with at least one championship). I'm not a Miami hater, but they have plenty of opportunity in the coming years to win multiple rings; I'd hate to think of those players on the Mavs, many of them future hall of famers, ending their careers with no hardware.

As with Boston & Chicago, 4-1 Heat. Mavs are good, but as Pippen said Lebron's probably the best all around player the NBA has ever seen. Him + Wade = lights out.

I think the Heat might get 1, but that could probably be considered a stretch. The Heat don't have the length nor the bench to compete with a team like the Bulls, who are actually at full strength.

And yet Dwight, KD, Nene and Dirk all have more FTA/game then any heat player.

I'm in the same feeling. I want Dirk to win a ring as well but the Heat will take it in 6.

Mavs will win in 4 games. They are by far the deeper team, and honestly, Dirk is unstoppable right now. He's playing out of his mind.

Few things you can count on this series:

Dirk scoring 30+ every game. Wade bricking a fast break dunk, as well as several layups and averaging 7 turnovers a game. Lebitch providing an oscar worthy performance, and getting a continuation after traveling 9 steps from the 3 point line. Miami with a +30 FTA advantage despite Dirk going to the line several times in the 4th.

The poor free throw shooting of Dwight makes way less impact on his FTA totals than the fact that once he catches near the basket it's a foul or dunk. They'd do that even if he shot 80%.

Based on how many plays they initiate, their skill, and their style of play, who should be shooting more free throws than Lebron in a perfectly reffed league that currently shoots less? I imagine it's a pretty long list due to the fact that Lebron gets so much preferential treatment and he flops so much.
