Timers and judges ready . . . Posters take your mark . . . BANG!

Let the posturing and prognostication, the trash talk and tears begin!

Oh, and . . .

GO PHILLIES!

Meh, I don't really care who wins. I guess it would be cool to see the Rangers and Giants do well.

We have a Cowboys/Yankees douchebag at work.

Me: "So, who's your favorite player on the Yanks and Cowboys?"
Him: Jeter and Romo.
Me: "Brett Gardner has been pretty solid this year."
Him: Yeah but he needs to score more touchdowns.
Me: /triesnottolaugh "Yeah Gardner outperformed Jeter by a mile, wonder when Girardi will actually grow some balls and drop Jeter lower in the lineup where he belongs."
Him: Uh, I agree.

First game of the postseason is a wet dream rubber match:
Cliff Lee vs David Price. What a way to kick things off!

I wouldn't bet against Mr. Cliff Lee. He's not Superman, but the guy made a believer out of me last year, and I think cream rises to the top.

Of course, if there's one thing I know, it's that "you never know."

That's why they play 'em.

Batter up!

Edit: Not to sure what you mean by rubber match, SP. Have Lee and Price squared off an even number of times in the regular season with each winning an equal amount? Because a rubber match is the final, deciding game of any series.

Since my team is out I am throwing my support behind the Phillies. Since I'm a fan of the senior circuit I'll keep my loyalties there, even though I'd LOVE for the Twins to sweep the Yanks. I don't care for Dusty so that takes care of the Reds, TBS and the 90's were overkill for me as far as the Braves go and since the Giants are division rivals that's an easy one. So hoping the Phillies do well once more and that Hamels finds his 2008 self again in this postseason.

I was doing a play on words (wet dream rubber - get it). But it may as well be the deciding game because they are really the only great starters each team has, so whoever can shut the other team down better will set the tone and pitch in Game 5 if needed.

Are you the kind of person that is a Cowboys, Yankees, Red Wings, and Lakers/Celtics fan?

Cowboys and Yankees. Not a hockey fan and I watch basketball too infrequently to call myself a fan of any team.

Im from NY and live 10 miles from the Bronx, hence the Yankee fan since mid 80s. My cousin was a big cowboys fan and when they won the super bowl in 94 when I was getting into football, i joined the bandwagon. Havent wavered since though.

Unlike your douchebag friend at work, I have been a loyal fan to both teams for the better part of 20 years. And everyone knows Gardner is a special teams player and doesnt need to score more touchdowns.

I'll root for those Cincy Red Legs this postseason. I'm a national league guy and its good to see the Reds in the playoffs. They've been in first place for most of the season and the ballpark was rarely filled which is a shame. Cincinnati is a fine baseball town and maybe a big playoff run will get the fans excited about the future of the Reds with the fine core of players they have and fill up that ballpark.

I do think though that the Phillies with their good lineup and very strong starting pitching are the best all around team in the playoffs. They have punch in the lineup and what other playoff team has a pitching combo like Halladay, Oswalt and Hamels? We'll see though since baseball can be a crazy game and upsets do happen.

The Giants.

Lincecum, Cain, Sanchez -- Granted they arent as established nor have then been around as long, but i would love to see an epic NLCS Phils v Giants with those pitching matchups.

You're right though I do prefer the Phils arms to the Giants. Giants also have a solid pen with that nutty closer Brian Wilson.

Rangers with a 2 run lead against the Rays. Lee has struck out 5 so far.

Price better be able to summon some of that "rise to the moment" juice he had when he debuted in the ALCS two years ago.

Lee is cruising along now. Still early but he's looked much better since the first inning.

I'd love for the Rangers to beat the Rays in their ALDS. Love love love!

Even as a Yankee fan, I don't see them getting past the ALCS. But, I'd much rather see the Rangers win the AL and the WS than the Rays. Wouldn't mind the Twins winning either, really.

Actually, anyone except the Reds, Phillies, and Rays could win the WS and I'd be content.
