**Official***2010 Padres baseball thread

My sports cities are:

San Diego (born and raised)
Cleveland (mom from there, lived there for awhile)
Detroit (lived in MI for 17 years)

As a general rule, my sporting interests are doomed to fail. However, Wings always have a chance (unless Gary decides to get his veryspecialfriend Cindy another Cup).

The problem now is with the crackdown on steroid use no one is going to challenge the home run records and that what they really need now.

nah but seriously : Looking at the game, reminds me of how much I miss going to baseball games. Living in the Central Coast of CA, it's 3.5 hours to the giants, 3.5-4 hours to do dodgers, 4.5-5 for the Angels, and 5 hours or so to the Padres. I won't be going to very many games this year =\

Yeah, but at least you never get your hopes up. My Padres are in first place right now but I'd be happy if they just weren't in last place by the end of the season.

For the past several decades Ive only had a passing interest in baseball considering my team is the Texas Rangers. But ever since I started watching Fox Sports Southwest, I watch every second of Rangers baseball very intently and give it my undivided attention. New ownership led by Nolan Ryan and our beloved former crackhead team manager make the game even more interesting.

2nd best record in the nl and sole possession of first in the west again. brewers coming to town, and if trevor comes in will the applause be because he's a piece of padres history or because he has an earned run average that is hovering somewhere around the nations debt? stay tuned...

What the hell Padres? I've been trying to stay pessimistic by thinking to myself "wait until August when they have that horrible road trip." How the hell did you go from 2.5 games ahead of the Giants and the start of the trip...to 6 games ahead at the end of the road trip?

Obviously the Padres didn't get the memo that they were supposed to suck this year and not be projected to win 95 games.

haha, i searched to bump this thread and saw that you posted in it yesterday. im guessing all that pessimism flew out the window? i like how this thread progressed from im over padres/baseball to 6 games ahead with a magic number of 33.

i like calling durango up, kid showed his wheels yesterday and his havoc on the base paths is going to be fun to watch here in the final stretch. still a lot of big games coming up against division rivals, time to bury them all. rocky, i still havent forgotten about you and heading out to some games. i actually bought the stretch run plan so keep an eye on your inbox.

Well, the Padres season is over with a 90-72 record. I would have been ecstatic if I knew that how they would finish when I started this thread. I'm still disappointed they came so close to the playoffs but I do have much more optimism in this team for the future.

They did suck me back in again this year and it was the team that did that, not the management. It was the players who won me over who went out and played their hearts out. Who would have believed that this team http://padres.mlb.com/team/roster_active.jsp?c_id=sd got 90 wins? So thank you Padres. Good luck next year.

Oh, and the Giants still suck.
