The only thing that scares me is the German vote tonight to support the Greek bailout. If they vote against it (like when our congress voted against the 700 billion dollar bailout in 2008), the DOW might drop another 1000 points tomorrow. However, our congress supported it under pressure and the DOW went UP 1000 the following trading day!

Greece is screwed. They are going to have to default soon. Time for a European vacation!

It will be interesting to see what the EU will do with Greece. Same thing could happen in Spain or Portugal.

It's not just Greece. Greece is tied to the Euro. If Greece fails, every single European country will be called into question and the Euro would probably collapse if more countries default.

It's not like the United States where we're the only "real" user of the currency. We can manipulate, print more and lower/raise interest rates whenever we want.

Greece is handcuffed to the other Euro nations. There is a pricing parity they want to achieve.

We're in a world economy. I can promise you if Europe fails, the United States will be in a world of hurt.

I wouldn't be so fast... do you remember what happened in September and October of 2008? We had numerous 500-800 point drops. This was after the market had already been down big for the year.

Not really. GNVC has no market, hence no earnings. They may have gotten a small check for their JV, but I doubt that's going to make much of an impact on their share price.

So I have a question that came up in conversation with my brother today. Could major mutual fund managers sell off a particular stock or sector intentionally lowering stock prices enough to trigger stop orders thus causing a major crash and then buying back into these same stocks at a much lower price?

Is it possible that this rumor of a keystroke error could in fact have been done intentionally?
