@JS80: *sigh*. Well, I couldn't comprehend much of that.

yea...you pretty much need to be aware of all the court crap, which in itself is a huge task. That's why the stock is priced like that, shit's hard to understand and legal predictions are a crapshoot.

Then why did you buy $25 CALLS? Thinking there's a good chance it might move?

I don't own 25 calls. I own 22.5, 30 and 35 . I'm personally willing to gamble. The odds look good to me. Odds are like 30-1 (?) for the OTM calls. I'll take that bet.

PS stay out of the rmbs yahoo finance board, it's useless.

I used to own CYCC ~2yrs ago, I think I might've mentioned it in the 2008 stock market thread...anyway, I think we missed the gain now, with it's low float, it's a buy for daytrading, but it's almost $2/share, so you might as well buy GNVC or check out NVLT.OB, they just announced their 725th event in their phase 3 lung cancer trial today.

Still accumulating GNVC or are you done?

If I can free up some money then I'll probably buy some more. A few cents here and there isn't a big deal if this thing actually comes though. Best I can tell, they won't announce much at the conf next Tuesday, which may make it drop a little more... but you never know.

So you think 30 to 1 odds are good odds for you?

Oddly enough, Midas has been silent for the last 2 days. What's cooking Azurik ? I am sure even though if you are on vacation you must be paying attention to RMBS when Jan 11 is so near. Please advise.

On a side note, has anyone been following Steel stocks? I have some positions in X and MT and they have been great for the past one month.

I think MPEL is bound to move up significantly: better than expected numbers for the region, been held down too long for no good reasons, Chinese New Year coming up, short term bullish trend with both price and volume actions, and I think there might be a squeeze coming.

This is probably old news but anyone who was thinking hey barnes and noble has their Nook out now to compete with the kindle, maybe I should by BKS... I used a Nook for a couple hours last night and it's a piece of shit imo.

I don't see it gaining significant market share on the Kindle, or the Applet Tablet should it splash.

Maybe a good short tbh.

I am still accumulating GNVC. I have a little bit under 30k shares, this would be my core position. I will probably buy another 5k shares to trade, hopfully I can turn that into 20k shares for a total of 50k shares. looking forward to that 1 million dollar payday when it hits $20/share.

Think there are any legs to today's 60%+ gain, or will it come crashing down even though the company has been pretty successful with it's clinical trials?

Since it's a little late to acquire more, I'm contemplating whether I should continue to hold (had been holding it as a loser for awhile, bought it at a previous good news spike that ended up being the peak, and recently it's been staying positive for me and now it's just skyrocketed.
It's a company I ultimately want to go long on, but at the same time, just like I did with CTIC, I'd rather avoid most of the constant up and downs prior to FDA news. Both are likely candidates to be bought eventually, and will probably hop back on CTIC if it looks like something good is on the near horizon.

Since it is obvious what will do as well as WFC last year, everyone should just buy USG right now for about $15-$16.

It's funny how value investing works.

Good deal, although I won't experience anywhere near the 1M payday

They pay dividends on common shares for T? Didn't know that.

Yes. It pays a great dividend. I'm loaded up in my retirement fund. RRSP for Canadians who know what that is. There's some risk in losing the land line base, flat revenues etc. Hopefully the gov gives them billions to build fibre lines that they then don't build and return money to shareholders instead.

So what other company pays dividend on commons? What are the minimum hold time? I've always thought that only preferred shares get dividend...

Most large caps pay dividends on commons. As long as you are a holder on the ex-dividend date you will receive a pay out. It is possible to buy shares for a few days and receive payment.

I get dividends from HT, but lately they've been pretty low, and I've sold some stock so the amount isn't all that much.

I believe C had dividends for common stock, but they've since stopped the dividends, likely until the stock price rises up.

But I do enjoy the hilarity of HT being cheaper than C yet maintaining quarterly dividends.
You don't have to hold it for long at all. Essentially, they say shareholders of record on a certain date will get the dividend, which usually comes about 2 weeks or so after that date. I don't know if you need to hold the stock in the mean time, but the press release always comes out prior to the "of record" date, so you can see the press release, buy a bunch of shares the day before the specified date, and then get the dividend.

I purchased a small amount when it was at .87cents for the heck of it and been holding since. I didn't realize that it went up so much and didnt get a change to sell it but this company is a long term hold since they have 3 drugs in Phase III and 2 in Phase II.
