no, they should get rid of hugging a guy at half-court when he is completely out of the play - why make it illegal under 2 minutes, but it's ok prior to that? Just modify the rule to make the hack-a-namebadfreethrowshooterhere garbage. It's like Sam Wyche's teams faking an injury to slow down no-huddle offenses - it's taking advantage of a rule that isn't well defined.

But it happens the last two minutes of every game that's close - but since they can no longer Hack-a-ProHack@FTShooting, they do it to the ball handler. If you remove the intentional hack, then you might as well get rid of all non-shooting fouls, and only provide possession. Maybe we should just implement the penalty box a la hockey!

fouling the guy with the ball - I'm fine with. Fouling a guy standing at half court, no where near the ball - I'm not fine with that.

Or maybe just do away with the 2 minute rule and make it for the whole game. If you intentionally foul someone who DOES NOT have the ball, the team that got fouled can elect anyone on the floor to shoot the free throws. I've watched some games turn into snoozefests because people start intentionally fouling DeAndre Jordan or Dwight Howard in the third quarter. It's incredibly boring. And while it makes sense strategically, there's no reason for that to exist as a strategy since it takes away from the true measure of the game. There's more to basketball than free throws; if there wasn't, no one would want Dwight Howard on their team. So make a rule change to get rid of the cheesy tactic of fouling away from the ball.

Or the fouled team gets the option of taking the ball out of bounds, with a new shot clock.

Stan van Gundy gets fired. Stupid move by the magic Imo catering to a guy that probably isn't going to stay next year. Gundy took a shitty team to the NBA finals. Too bad they didn't let him go last year so the Lakers could of taken him instead of mike Brown.

Eh, the point of sports is for those players to win a championship. It doesn't have to be entertaining, simply has to work. The hack-a-player strategy has existed for decades, and it was employed to stop a team from going on a run. I find it amusing that someone paid several million dollars a year can't make at least 70% of his FTs.

Pretty sure it has to be entertaining. If it wasn't meant to be entertaining then it wouldn't be on TV, there wouldn't be commercials every time out and the crowd would be half asleep, which is what happens when they use the 'foul the crappy free throw shooter' strategy.

Altering the rules in such a way that that can't possibly be a viable strategy makes the game more entertaining for fans and consequently brings in more revenue. It's a win/win.

This game is actually interesting. Lakers playing angry...both teams exploding to the rim. Great shot blocking. And just a lot of emotions being put out there.

Metta kind of got screwed there. He went for the ball. I wonder if he got the flagrant for the push at the end?

No doubt he's a punk, but that was in no way at all a flagrant.

No doubt the refs have been told to prevent MWP from escalating anything. That's what happens when you have a history, particularly with the team you're playing.

Unfortunately, I didn't get to see what happened in this game.

Sephalosa(no clue how to spell that) had breakaway to basket, MWP ran back to cover. Both went in the air, MWP made a play on the ball with a bit of body contact down low. That's about it.

God I wish there was a way to get Kobe onto the Bulls for his final 1 or 2 really productive seasons.

Kobe Bryant was just beastly tonight. Too bad Pau and Bynum were basically worthless. I mean, I get it, you're on a team with Kobe, he's going to be a ballhog... but he scored damn near double Pau and Bynum COMBINED, shooting over 50% (which neither of them managed), and even out-rebounded Bynum, which is insane. What the hell is going on in LA? Bynum and Gasol flat out sucked this series, and that's huge. I'm hoping there are some major trades made in the offseason that sees both of them gone. I'm not a fan of the Lakers, but I think both of those guys have something major to contribute to other teams, and it will be nice to shake things up a bit.

And thank God we get to see OKC vs San Antonio. This series is the NBA Finals. I don't care what happens in the East, or in the NBA Finals, these are the two best teams this season, by far, bar none, and whoever wins the series is the rightful NBA champion regardless of what happens in the Finals. If the Spurs-Thunder goes to 7 games while the winner of the East gets a week of rest, is it really fair to say that the Eastern Conference champion was better if they manage to win a series? I was pretty confident that the Heat would win it all heading into the post-season, but now I consider them a distant third to the duo out West.

Lakers didn't feed the post again and paid for it again. They will keep having these embarrassing eliminations as long as Kobe shoots like it is 6 years ago still. Whoever they bring in won't matter until he accepts he isn't the man anymore.

Don't let matchups fool you into thinking the Spurs or Thunder are better than the Heat. The Spurs are obviously playing well, but they were also fortunate to play two straight series against teams that do NOT play defense. That works out well for them. The Thunder are a fast team and played two straight series against old teams.

Both are really going to be tested in the WCF, and they won't look like such world beaters.

^Feeding the post or not, Bynum only had four rebounds tonight. That is just pitiful.

They have no heart. MWP and Kobe are the only ones out there playing with heart. Mike Brown makes some of the most retarded decisions ever. The Thunder had all of their starters out at the beginning of the fourth and Durant comes out with a three yet he keeps Kobe out for 4+ minutes.. really?

I can only hope that the Lakers buy out Brown's contract early and take up Stan van Gundy but that will never happen..

Ill give it to Gasol that he came out faster than he did the past few games but he should of been playing like that all along not just certain games.

Except Kobe Bryant pretty much dominated, and Bynum just doesn't seem to be reliable.

Either way, the only thing OKC won is the right to be swept by the Spurs.

And, lol, the Heat? No one knows whether they're going to even make it out of the series vs the Pacers, let alone anything beyond. The Spurs are most definitely better than the Heat.
