extra innings, go NYY. This team doesn't deserve to make the playoffs.

I hope you're speaking about the Yankees when you say the bolded.

8 walks, 6 hits, 4 runs, 1 for 9 w/ RISP? 14 inning loss to a team that's like 6 and 18 in September?

No, the Yankees don't deserve to win in the playoffs.

While the Red Sox have played horribly at both ends of the season, they did play amazingly well during the middle.

As much as I want the Rays in the playoffs, they haven't exactly grabbed the opportunity like they should have.

I don't think Yankees are playing are full strength right now or even trying to. However, I would think that a team with 97 wins (and 2nd best record in baseball) should be in the playoffs.

The Red Sox, if they make the playoffs, would have the highest ERA of any starting pitching staff in history. Not interested in watching a bunch of choker bums play.

Before Lackey's outing last night: Red Sox starters had pitched five innings or fewer in six of the last seven games and 15 times this month.

The Yankees could not have cared less last night because they had to catch a flight to Tampa. Baltimore will hopefully finish the Bosox off.

Let's go Rays!!!
following ESPN.com and Beckett just got rocked in the 6th. I don't think the Yankees will try very hard these last couple days.

Cards down 4-1 but threatening in the 5th! Pujols on deck.

So for how long do you think every national news outlet will be clamoring about the BoSox epic meltdown, while simultaneously overlooking how well the Rays have played when it really counted?

The Yankees had their minor league squad in most of that game... you do realize that right? The sure sign the NYY had enough is when they brought in Scott Proctor

I still can't get over the Yanks finishing with the second best record in baseball despite not seriously upgrading their rotation Yankee style ($$$$) during the course of the year. Big stones on their management, which would have been (rightfully) roasted if not doing so had cost them a shot at the post season.

I also can hardy believe it's Boston that might not even make the post season, despite spending lebenty billion on Crawford and Gonazalez.

And finally, think back to somewhere early in the second half of this year, and how you would have reacted if someone had told you that two of the hottest, best looking teams in baseball right now would be the Brewers and the Tigers. D:

The Show. Those 162 game schedules will find you and humble you.

The wacko that is Ozzie Guillen is out as ChiSox manager and is reportedly close to signing a deal to become the new manager of the soon to be Miami Marlins. I'm sure Ozzie and Hanley will get along great.

When more than 18,000 fans go to a Rays games against the Yanks to battle for a wildcard spot. They don't deserve a team.

Pretty long, cause the Rays haven't exactly been playing all that well in September either. Boston is playing .300 ball right now. If the Rays were playing .600 ball in September, they'd have passed Boston last week.

A .560 winning percentage isn't that great. Well, not in the AL East, anyway.

Just as I predicted, Bosox are folding like cheap lawnchairs while St.L continues to show us they hate success.

I don't follow baseball but shouldn't those two get along better than the owner and Ozzie?

Rays aren't quite killing it but they're .650 from Sept. 3rd.

Considering the AL East is considered the toughest division in MLB, .560 isn't bad.

Sure, the Rays could have edged ahead by now, but the Red Sox could have already clinched a playoff spot if they didn't stink.

From what I've heard on a Boston sports station, the Yankees will have most of their normal lineup tonight.

Go Rays and O's.

WTF!!!! The A's aren't pitching Santana or Weaver. Why? They're not hurting. You saving their arms for next year?

http://espn.go.com/blog/los-angeles...by-design-the-numbers-dont-add-up-and-lineups
Meh, I would have done the same thing and assumed they were going to as soon as they lost last night. Especially Weaver, who has gone often on 3-days rest in the second half. The good news, I suppose, is that is locks up the triple crown for JV.

Cards with the 5-run 4th to tie it. With the Braves continuing to implode, they could tie it up...

Ok. Rays did their part. Meanwhile, Boston's feast or famine offense has put up 8 runs. I assume Papelbon will be brought to save it for them.

edit: Scratch that, Cards take the lead. Looks like we might be headed to double-Game 163s

Papelbon is trying to blow this as we speak, though. edit: Sox hang on. lol.

Texas/LAA is the MLB.com free game of the day, if any Tigers fans are interested. 1-0 Angels early.

Alright, Cards are leading late, if they could hang on, then they are tie with the Braves.

Anyone knows if Braves and Cards are tie after tomorrow, who will win the tie breaker?

Cards win the tiebreaker which means that Game 163 would be in St. Louis. Similarly, the AL Game 163 would be in Tampa (in front of 400 fans).
