Watch out for the Marlins the next couple of years, with that new stadium, they'll finally get some decent revenue. With the Marlins playing all this time at Sun Life Stadium (where the Dolphins play football), they didn't get any revenue from ticket sales and possibly concessions. With them opening up in the new stadium next season, they'll be a really good team in a few years. Heck, they were pretty good this year, they just hit a string of bad luck with that 17-game losing streak.
The Marlins just hired a clown for a manager, and apparently they have the new logo to match. The stadium will help of course, but now I'm rather concerned about whoever is making the decisions there.

I'm taking Big Game James all the way. Texas picked a bad time to run into the Rays.

When I posted that, I had read it on ESPN.com. Then, I saw on ESPN TV that it would be Niemann, which I thought was a wrong choice. The official Rays site showed TBD.

I knew Shields would be pitching on short rest, but I still thought we would go with him first. Now, ESPN and the Rays sites confirm that it's rookie pitcher Matt Moore. Link Woah Nelly!

I was really hoping he would get a start in the playoffs. I was disappointed last year when Hellickson wasn't given a chance. I am really going to enjoy watching him today. Now, let's hope the Rays generate some offense.

I don't think the Rays can generate enough offense to take down Texas, great pitching staff but lets face it, the miracle comeback against the Yanks was built around 4 straight walks and a hit batter, of course Longo was clutch but if the game had any meaning for the Yanks they probably would have pulled that pitcher out quick..

ESPN's Jayson Stark picked the Rangers as world champs in a column where he states he's lousy at predicting the WS winner.

That's the funny thing about baseball, you just never know.

I'm currently watching Wade Davis in relief with the Rays holding a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth.

Matt Moore looks good. One start under his belt and he comes in a fires a 2 hit shutou for 7 innings.. 98 mph and he looks like he is playing catch.

That was his second major league start, and he was only called up 3 weeks ago? Wow, he looked comfortable. Congrats!

Open mouth, insert foot. LOL. Maybe the comeback against the Yanks "loosened" up the Rays a bit and gave them added confidence. Their bread and butter method of winning was great starting pitching and very solid defense, if they can add a potent offense to that they might go to the WS. Just goes to show how important a good farm system is, Moore pitched like a Price or Lester yet was an unknown rookie, Rays had a LOT of players leave to get bigger contracts but managed to fill all the voids and still get to the playoff's with a puny payroll, Maddon may be manager of the year..

Despite any other theory or explanation that has been put forth or will be put forth for what has already happened, and what is yet to come, this above is the only answer that really holds water.

So true, in 2004 after the Yanks pummeled us 18-9 to go up 3-0 in the series who would have thought the Sox would have then reeled off 7 straight wins for the WS crown, momentum is only as good as today's starting pitching and even that can be deceiving sometimes, a team can square up on a lot of pitches but wind up as "atom" balls although Ray's rookie Moore's performance was dominating, 6 K's and few sharply struck balls by the vaunted Texas offense speaks volumes for that kid, he throws 95 like it's a warmup and makes it that much tougher for the hitter to see and time his release points..

Admittedly I was a Yanks fan growing up, that series crushed my spirits for a very long time.

Ask me about crushed, the Buckey Dent thing, I watched it live, guy had like 2 HR's for the year and that one cleared the monster by a foot and then the Bill Buckner deal but Bill got a bad rap, they still had a chance at redemption in game 7 but lost, hell, Buckner's 100+ RBI's in back to back (84,85) seasons was a major reason they got to the playoffs in the first place. Anyway, I'm expecting the Yanks/Tigers series to be a good one, might have caught a break if Verlander only pitches 1 game in the series..

Looks like it's a game again over in Arlington.

Longoria crushed a 3-run bomb to bring the Rays back within one run.
