As SunnyD said, this is the new normal. I attribute it to people having easier access to news, both bad and good and the ability to trade from anywhere using phones, tablets, computers at work. More volatility. Luckily many of my stocks are paying me to hold them which means they buy me more shares in bad times.

are the jurors back to work (where they can talk with co-workers, etc) then come back Monday or they are in isolation until Monday?

They're not in isolation. During jury deliberations they are protected by a guard and the jury room can move at random.

They are instructed not to talk about this to anyone. There was an incident earlier during jury selection where attorneys on both sides found out that two jurists posted about the trial on Facebook. They got reamed by the judge, got threatened for punishment before being quickly dismissed. He warned the rest that all communications about this trial is prohibited.

Are there any ETFs that basically mirror the Dow or Nasdaq that I can buy before close today and sell tomorrow (hopefully for a 2-3% profit)? I really think we'll see this back above 11,000 before we see it below 10,000 and it's a risk I'm willing to take. I don't want anything that takes a day or 2 to clear (like any mutual funds or anything). I just want to take advantage of this giant dip in the market and make money in 1-2 days by flipping it quickly. I have about $30k to do it with and figure I can make a few hundred in a day.

It can happen anytime... including this week.

I'm not loaded on too many calls since the premiums are too high. Mostly shares. Good volume today and a 10%+ gain... no news yet either. $25k in paper profits today on RMBS alone

BTW, not only are Fridays closed business days for courts now, hours of operations have been reduced. Instead of opening at 8:30am, they are now opening at 9am.

Interesting, the jury has not taken a break like they normally do and chose to eat their lunch inside. Last week, a woman jury needed half the day off tomorrow and Judge McBride agreed along with the rest of the jury. Maybe they are close to finishing and trying to wrap up as soon as possible? Only speculating of course.

Seriously, WTF? Came here to post this.

Last I checked at 3:30pm + 15 minute delay (didn't bother logging in), everything was still down. Just checked and banks like BAC and C managed to pop 7% (2% down + 5% up), the DOW itself was down to 10650 earlier.

Did an index hit everyone's HFTA's "buy" limit...

I will follow you in here and laugh at those that ignore the lessons learned from the history of the calculator and it's pricing over time. Actually, this even applies to laptops pricing over time. The winner in the long term is the consumer.

Managed to double down on aapl today at 355. Pretty happy with myself till I looked at ISRG (one of my go to's) and saw it had rallied $15.

FBN is pretty close to its all-time low. Although if you were just talking about yesterday's bounce, I agree, quite a few stocks did well. What is LEE? Is that a valid stock ticker?

RMBS has been up 40% in the past month. It did bad earlier this year due to the CAFC, but overall, even with the dot-com bust, it's still up 100% lifetime (spilt 4:1 in 2000). It went as high as $400+ when people thought RMBS was the dominant memory player with Intel's backing.
