Shitty news about V-Mart. Dombrowski needs to do something.
I'm an Astros fan. Even though the team is terrible, I'll be going to a lot of games in order to enjoy real baseball before they get shipped to the American League.
There's talk about bringing the DH to both leagues and I've quite against it. To me, baseball is 60% sport/40% chess game. Getting rid of the pitcher batting makes it 70/30 in my view. I enjoy the La Russa element of the game even though it doesn't make for good tv.I'm an Astros fan. Looks like Yu Darvish is now a Texas Ranger. The contract is supposedly for 5 years with an option year but no specific terms are out yet. Welcome to the big leagues Yu!
First baseman Carlos Pena will return to the Tampa Bay Rays, agreeing to a one-year deal after spending last season with the Chicago Cubs.
Pena's contract is worth $7.25 million, a baseball source told ESPN.com.
Pena spent four seasons with the Rays beginning in 2007, helping them reach the playoffs twice before signing as a free agent with the Cubs for $10 million last season. He played in 153 games and batted .225 with 28 home runs and 80 RBIs.
I guess that's what you have to do when you're desperate for power.
During an appearance on ESPN's "Outside the Lines" on Friday, Pedro Gomez reported that Fausto Carmona was outed several weeks ago on a popular radio show in Santo Domingo by the mother of the real Fausto Carmona.
According to the report, Carmona (aka Roberto Hernandez Heredia) had been paying the family of the real Carmona for the use of his identification and refused to increase payments after the Indians picked up his $7 million club option. The U.S. government subsequently began an investigation following the interview and arrested Heredia when he went to apply for his work visa earlier this week. The Indians have refused comment on the situation, saying only that they are in the process of "still gathering information." On Friday, the club acquired Kevin Slowey from the Rockies as insurance for their starting rotation.
Yankees are going to suck again this year. 97 wins was a mistake. No pitching upgrade = shitty year again.
i can not believe the tigers forked that much over for him. stupid!!!Prince going to dads former team, the Tigers, for 9 years $214 million.
This is the worst idea I have ever heard. Cabrera is just simply not fit for third base anymore. I guess it can't be worse than the Inge/Kelly black hole, but Jesus.
Was waiting till the new year rolled around to get the discussion for this upcoming season that's about to roll around. Last year was quite the fantastic season as a baseball fan even if the White Sox completely under-performed.
My comments on the White Sox:
We all knew that "56" was going to be gone this year, even if they made a deep playoff run last year. No way they were going to give him a lengthy contract, and I'm kinda glad that they didn't tie up all that money. Buehrle should dominate in the national league.
Losing Quentin kind of stung a bit, although I feel like De Aza or Viciedo will be absolutely awesome as starters, we just need Rios to not suck.
I was pretty sad about losing Santos though, I thought he did an excellent job last year.
Lastly, Dunn needs to not blow this year. WTF!!!
Around the league:
Pujols, wow! Way too many years for an old man. Following Fielder should prove to be interesting. Selig is looking to fuck even more things up in the league, I hate the idea of the extra wild card teams, this isn't the damn NBA.
Although I still predict him trying to edge out the DH in the NL, since he did take it out of the All-Star game. I think that might be a precursor of things to come. I did just read that he plans on moving the All-Star game to a Wednesday as well, so that pitchers throwing on Sunday could still play.
Wow, didn't know the Tigers were in the running for Prince.
I hope Miggy shows up in shape.
