Holy fucking shit these losses by the Mets the past four games have been BRUTAL. The bullpen is just awful in every way. This is really a make or break time as the Mets will play the Natinals 5 more times before the trading deadline.
the mets need a reliever badly and they need to release bay. glad collins at least pinch hit for him when it counted last nightHoly fucking shit these losses by the Mets the past four games have been BRUTAL. Some more on Clippard's chokejob last night. This article says he relies on the changeup 33% of the time. Why wouldn't the Mets (or any other team) just sit on it? The guy needs to develop a 3rd pitch or he'll just end up as the modern day Keith Foulke (although Foulke located the fastball much better).

ESPN's Jim Bowden reports the Phillies and Cole Hamels are working on a long-term extension "which could end up" in the range of six years and $142-144 million.
This is considerably higher than the six-year, $130 million contract that was reported earlier this week. The Phillies have intensified their efforts to sign Hamels, though it's not yet clear if this would be enough to get it done. The reported offer would pay Hamels significantly more than the $127.5 million extension the Giants gave Matt Cain earlier this season.
Dear Yankees,
We're sorry we traded you an injured Michael Pineda. Please have Ichiro.
Signed,
Seattle Mariners Management
Wow, Ichiro traded to the Yankees for 2 pitching prospects, huge news! First of all, how do the Yankees have ANY good prospects that other teams would covet at this point? Secondly, I never in a million years would have thought the Mariners would trade this guy. He's old and a shell of his former self, but a life-long Mariner who is going to the HOF, and the fact that he's Asian is a big deal too in that area. Anyway, Yuck the fankees, carry on! I had to laugh at what one of the ESPN commenters said on this though:
My god the Mets are DONE. They have the nerve to bring up Manny Acosta for tonights game. What a joke. SELL SELL SELL!
Ken Rosenthal of FOXSports.com reports that the Marlins are fielding trade interest in right-handers Josh Johnson and Ricky Nolasco, third baseman Hanley Ramirez, first baseman Carlos Lee and left-handed reliever Randy Choate.
The Marlins traded Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante to the Tigers on Monday and should continue to sell off parts in the days ahead. However, Rosenthal notes that they intend to "make baseball trades, not simply dump salaries." Johnson would likely bring the most in return, but Scott Miller of CBSSports.com reported late Monday night that the Marlins would prefer to keep him. The 28-year-old right-hander is under contract for $13.75 million next year, after which he becomes a free agent
So the Marlins traded Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez the other day...more to come?
Hamels re-signs with Phillies! 6 years $140M, insanity but at least we kept him from free agency.
Dodgers acquired INF Hanley Ramirez and LHP Randy Choate from the Marlins for RHP Nathan Eovaldi and RHP Scott McGough.
It's fair to say that the new Dodgers' ownership is signaling that they are in it to win it. There have been whispers that Ramirez's act was wearing thin in Miami, but it would be a lot easier to put up with if he produced like he has in the past. After a disappointing and injury-plagued season in 2011, the 28-year-old is batting just .246/.322/.428 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI through 93 games. The Dodgers will pick up the roughly $38.5 million left on Ramirez's contract, which runs through 2014. Still, it's a modest price to pay for someone who could pay huge dividends if he bounces back. It's not yet clear if he'll remain at third base with the Dodgers or return to shortstop.
yeah, they have gone flat. with all the injuries they have suffered this year i am surprised they made it this far close to 500 club. they need to get some some spark back somehowBoy..the Mets don't even look like they want to play today. They are going through the motions now and against Strasburg they look DEAD. Seriously..no effort so far today. Its kinda offensive really.
