O's and A's are really coming down to the wire. More excitement after last year's!
Looks like Miggy has the triple crown locked up after last night, but it depends on if he plays today (which I doubt). An 0-5 vs 5-5 and he loses it. If I was Leyland, no way I'm playing him. However, Josh Hamilton could belt 2 HRs in the Texas/Oakland winner take all game. Leyland may give Miggy 2 at bats and just tell him to try to mash one, and then pull him. That way the batting title is still out of range of Trout, even considering an 0-2 vs a 5-5 day.
It'll also be neat to see if Trout can get one more stolen base to hit the 30HR/50steal mark which only 2 other men in the history of baseball have done.
Speaking of rookies, it looks like Bryce Harper has it wrapped up in the NL over Frazier in setting the most HRs for a teen rookie (22 vs Mel Ott's 18 in 1928). Frazier's time was limited by Votto's return (and his production dropped off). For Harper, after playing catcher for his entire life, his transition to outfield has been impressive. His arm and speed turned out to be a good fit.
I think Dickey and Price have the Cy Youngs locked up too. NL MVP will probably be Posey, the guy is leading Braun and McCutchen in WAR and OPS+ at freaking catcher on a team that nobody picked to win the division (except me!). That is just phenomenal and what a comeback for a guy whose career could have very well ended after getting destroyed last year in that play at the plate.
