I think Jamal Lewis, rookie running 1400 yards had much more to do with the success of the offense.

Add in the ravens had 5 consecutive games in which the offense scored 0 touchdowns... yet they won 2 of those games.

Dilfer was a pretty good qb. His specialities were 'don't make too many mistakes,' 'let the defense shut down the other team,' and 'make some completions when the running game doesn't get first downs.' He did this to great effect in Tampa and Baltimore. He wasn't the key to either team's championship, though.
I can't lay it on any thicker than I have already. :\

You are mis-remembering. Every time the defense faltered, Trent was there to pick up the slack.

Huh, you mean all the times they faltered in the Super Bowl where they didn't allow a single offensive touchdown?

I think Trent Dilfer was underrated and the Ravens made a mistake in letting him go when they did, but he was hardly the player responsible for their Super Bowl win.

My hat is off to you dank69, that was some of the most subtle yet effective trolling I've seen in a long time. Well done!

3/4 correct last week. I was not confident in my Bengals pick at all but that game ended up pretty close.

NFC Divisional games:

Atlanta vs. Seattle- It will be closer that the last couple of Falcons playoff games but unless this turns into a big shootout I think Seattle gets by with the win. The Seahawks pass defense has been lights out this season and the Matt Ryan to White/Jones/Gonzalez combo will not be enough to overcome that.

San Francisco vs. Green Bay - Toughest game of the week for me to pick but I will go with Green Bay. I think Kaepernick will not play very well and the talk of "Why did Harbaugh bench Alex Smith" will be heard the whole offseason.

AFC Divisional Games:

New England vs. Houston - I think the Patriots smoke the Texans. Houston's secondary stinks and Tom Brady is leagues better than Andy Dalton. Look for a repeat of the week 14 matchup, maybe a tad bit closer.

Denver vs. Baltimore - Denver wins this game hands down. Baltimore played with a bunch of emotion Sunday but that train will come to a grinding halt at Mile High (or whatever they are calling it).

I agree with these predictions.

Though I would love to see houston route New England, I do not see that happening.

Not gonna happen, Patriots are going to roll them something fierce. Then houston will be behind and have to pass a lot more, then come the interceptions.

Anything's possible, one year we destroyed the Jets on a Monday night game but they came back to beat us in the playoff's 23-26, let's see what kind of adjustments Kubiack can come up with..

The AFC games feel more predictable to me. Don't see how Denver & NE *don't* win unless they have some terribly foolish turnovers. Both teams have completely pounded their matchups recently. I don't care that Ray and Pollard are back for Baltimore. Peyton is a stud, playing at home, and with a very good defense.

NE is playing at home, Brady is a stud, and their defense is better than they get credit for.

I just see a Brady & Manning AFC championship game in the works with Goodell and CBS having uncontrollable orgasms thinking about the revenue from that.

NFC is much cloudier. Gut says that ATL chokes again and Seattle marches on to the NFC championship.

Green Bay has been playing great ball and Rodgers is playing angry. SFO has had a couple shakey games and a bit vulnerable. Again, gut says the more explosive Green Bay team walks away with the win. That gives the Fail Mary rematch between Seattle and Green Bay in the NFC championship. This time at Lambeau.

Fox and Goodell orgasm uncontrollably.

Yes. if the rematch between Green Bay and Seattle happens... I know hours before the game on ESPN or fox or CBS or whatever channel they will be on, will be talking about the touchception some more.

I would have picked Seattle over Atlanta had Clemons not been injured.. he accounted for a large percentage of the QB disruptions for the 'Hawks.

My winners for the weekend:
Atlanta
San Francisco
Denver
New England

I know it's not the same thing (not an injury), but it reminds me of when Pedro Martinez convinced the Red Sox manager to keep him in a game longer than he should've. Players are sometimes the worst judge of how they're feeling and/or performing. But, since many great players have played well through pain/illness/etc, they try to convince coaches to keep them in.

Mark Prior. 2003. NLCS.

If Houston wins it would be my shock of the week. Hell I would even be surprised if the Patriots win this game by anything less than 10 points. New England is going to score a butt load of points, Matt Schaub is going to be forced to toss the ball 50 times to Andre Johnson who will be blanketed and there will be some costly turnovers.

ha! I think Dank69 is mostly trolling. Dilfer wasn't bad, he just was an OK QB. is responsibility was to to not fuck up and help the offense score ~10 points each game so the defense could win.

He did that remarkably well.

Yea it would be a shock if either wild card game pulled out a miracle and won.

NFC, both games can go either way.

Yes, he was.

It was very believeable. Trent was never a bad QB, he just wasn't the heart of the offense, or team.

As a Niners fan I'm just uneasy because of what happened the last time we beat the same team during the regular season only to play them again in the divisional...

Just hoping the D gets their swagger back with Justin Smith back in the line up and I really hope he can play close to 100%.

Green Bay beats Seattle and Denver beats New England setting up a Denver Super Bowl victory.

Now hang on a minute, Flacco (and his receivers) played one hell of a game against the Colts, or course it won't be near as easy in Denver but it could happen, the rest of the team has rallied around Lewis's early return and the last of his playing days, expect a dogfight here..

I don't like the fact that the NE/DEN game (if it happens) will be played in DEN, we've always had bad shit happen there, at least we get a healthy Gronk for the playoff's..

I could see Denver being a bit rusty since their recent competition has been pretty lousy (Browns, Chiefs x2, Raiders, etc...) but I still can't overlook the beating they gave the Ravens on the road week 15
