ESPN just broke the story that RG3 is going to have surgery to see what is wrong with knee

Can that really be good news? The fact they need to go in and look just to see what it is seems to be saying its a mess in there.

Over/Under on games RG3 starts next year for the Skins? I have 6.

Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III is expected to undergo surgery this week on his torn lateral collateral ligament and at that time doctors will determine how much damage has been done to his anterior cruciate ligament, a source told ESPN.
Griffin suffered a partially torn LCL in his right knee during Sunday's playoff game against the Seahawks, a source said.
Griffin also likely tore at least part of his ACL, but it's unknown how severe it is because a previous knee injury he suffered at Baylor in 2009 required two screws and a rubber band to hold it together.
Because of the previous injury, doctors initially could not determine Monday if his ACL was partially or completely torn and doctors don't know what surgery should be performed.
The Washington Post reported earlier that Griffin's MRI suggested partial tears to the ACL and LCL.
Griffin, who entered Sunday's wild-card playoff game already nursing a previously sprained LCL in the same knee, appeared to tweak the knee on a pass attempt in the first quarter and then left the game in the fourth quarter after twisting his leg while attempting to recover a muffed shotgun snap.
Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said in a news conference on Monday the results of the MRI prompted the team to send Griffin to Pensacola, Fla., on Tuesday to see orthopedist Dr. James Andrews, who serves as a Redskins' physician, for further examinations to determine how to proceed.
"There is a concern," Shanahan said. "That's why he's going to see him."
Andrews, meanwhile, tried to clarify comments he made Sunday to USA Today that he didn't clear Griffin to return to the Dec. 9 game in which he originally hurt his knee, as Shanahan had claimed the following day.
On Monday, Andrews told The Washington Post that "Shanahan didn't lie about it, and I didn't lie."
"I didn't get to examine (Griffin's knee) because he came out for one play, didn't let us look at him and on the next play, he ran through all the players and back out onto the field," he told the newspaper.
"Coach Shanahan looks at me like, 'Is he OK?' and I give him the 'Hi' sign as in, 'He's running around, so I guess he's OK.' But I didn't get to check him out until after the game. It was just a communication problem. Heat of battle. I didn't get to tell him I didn't get to examine the knee. Mike Shanahan would never have put him out there at risk just to win a game."

Analysts I was listening to says nobody recovers fully 100% from dual ACL repair. And if there is ACL damage when they get in there he's looking at 12 month recovery because of multiple ligament (ACL, LCL)

Was Ray Lewis indicted for the murder of two people? Yes/No

Did Ray Lewis accept a plea deal in exchange for testifying against two of his friends? Yes/No

Did Ray Lewis later settle with the families of the victims? Yes/No

I guess youre right, the guy is an angel. You'd have to be an idiot to go listen to this guy give a motivational speech.

You sure are bitter.

Clearly you are correct, Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar stabbed themselves to death

Yes, because if ray lewis didn't stab them, the only other explanation is that they stabbed themselves. Man I hope you never serve on a jury.

He'll be OK -- maybe not next year, but the year after.

NOW do you guys get what I was saying?

But he's so much more than a running QB!

Well he's going to have to be after this news. That's his planting leg

How long was Brady out with a lesser injury?

Watch the reply of rg injury. There was no knee there. Just wasn't there.

If the Colts can go without Manning for a year, the Skins can survive without RG3 without a year. It would be dumb to rush him back -- Cousins can carry the team and if he can't, well, the Rams thank you for that draft pick!

get what you are saying about what?

He rushed far too many times and it was going to catch up with him. He had a concussion early and the last quarter of the season dealt with knee injuries. These kinds of injuries are what happen to a running QB.

none of these injuries happened on designed run plays. they were passing plays where nothing was there and he tried to make a play. sorry if i don't think it is bad to try and make a play. but he's learning that he can't do it always and needs to go down sometimes. the 2nd half of the season his runs were totally different than the first half, much smarter with when he got out and went down.

hell the first time he tweaked his knee in the seattle game was when he passed it and planted it oddly. and then his final injury had nothing to do with him running.

its just stupid how you are out to try and prove something higher than what facts state. he ran more than any other qb this year, everyone knows this and there is nothing to argue against that.

the fact that he runs and can make plays with his legs has no bearing on his passing ability. but his jacked up knee definitely had an effect on it. ever since he came back from that injury his passing has been off way more than normal. so hopefully they don't rush him back at all and let him full recover 110% with this injury.

He originally hurt his knee in the Baltimore game, not the Cleveland game as some Redskins fans claimed earlier. I don't know if it was a designed run or not, but I do know it was a dumb play and he should've slid:

This run play was in the second half of the season.

you seem to know a lot about his injuries and play but don't know the details of the play he busted his knee in that game? it was a scramble and he was going down with his back to the defenders and got hit by a freak hit by ngata.

he will learn when to get down earlier or get out of bounds, or he will have a short career. he's a smart guy.

And what's the proper way for a QB to go down? (HINT: not the way you describe above)

At any rate, it isn't relevant. RGIII needs to take his time to recover and when he comes back, avoid rushes if at all possible and he needs to SLIDE FEET FIRST if he has to run.

yes, because you've NEVER seen any other qb dive for extra yardage, they all always slide every single time 100% of the time...

and again, im 100% confident that he will learn from his mistakes. you obviously don't pay much attention to rg3 other than sportscenter highlights, but i watch a lot of stuff about him and the redskins that is only on the local markets, and that guy is definitely one of the smartest athletes in the game, as well as one of the best leaders.

He did, but I was referring to the injury this year.

Ah, gotcha. As an eternal pessimist, I think he's in for a short, disappointing career. It's better to break bones than tear ligaments - ligs just don't heal well.

Unless you have some of AP's wonderjuice, now with 100% more HGH!

QBs who do that tend to get injured. That's why he has to learn to not do it. Heck, I was screaming at Russell Wilson on my TV because he was making too many risky runs and making too many risky blocks. These kids have to get it in their heads FAST that they can't do that stuff.

Also, another overlooked item about these kids is that due to their agility, you can't get a solid hit on them. While that sounds good on the surface, what tends to happen is that you miss their torso and unfortunately catch their limbs.

Well I'll take your word over certain other Redskins fans on this forum who won't be named, as just about every claim made by him (oops!) turned out to be a load of crap.

He didn't slide. That's the problem

In all fairness, I think ICF has generally liked RG3 and given him props when and where deserved--his criticisms have been that he runs like an idiot for the NFL and the shame of it all is that if he refuses to adjust his career will be very short. (AMDZen is the guy that simply hates RG3 for no explicable reason--to which he has freely admitted).

I cringe watching this guy most of the time. I cringed every moment he stayed in the game after that "tweak" on Sunday. Even if he wasn't running around on his feet, it was obviously effecting his passing. At least a guy like Harbaugh would have had the goddamn common sense to take out his dependable, winning QB if it was plainly obvious that his performance was not going to win that game.
