The running QB has been tried many times.

They tried and failed?

No. They tried and they died. This is nothing new.

He'll be OK -- maybe not next year, but the year after.

NOW do you guys get what I was saying?

I get it, and kinda always have, but I don't think this was an RG3 issue as much as it was a coaching issue. Shanny should have taken him out, regardless of what his team captain said. You need him in the future after the win this is exactly why you bought the RG3 insurance.

Lessons learned all around.

He rushed far too many times and it was going to catch up with him. He had a concussion early and the last quarter of the season dealt with knee injuries. These kinds of injuries are what happen to a running QB.

I disagree. The only issue was that they brought him back to play too soon. There is NO way for a ligament to heal in only a week and a half. I think it was a bad idea to gamble the future of the franchise that way.

none of these injuries happened on designed run plays. they were passing plays where nothing was there and he tried to make a play. sorry if i don't think it is bad to try and make a play. but he's learning that he can't do it always and needs to go down sometimes. the 2nd half of the season his runs were totally different than the first half, much smarter with when he got out and went down.

hell the first time he tweaked his knee in the seattle game was when he passed it and planted it oddly. and then his final injury had nothing to do with him running.

its just stupid how you are out to try and prove something higher than what facts state. he ran more than any other qb this year, everyone knows this and there is nothing to argue against that.

the fact that he runs and can make plays with his legs has no bearing on his passing ability. but his jacked up knee definitely had an effect on it. ever since he came back from that injury his passing has been off way more than normal. so hopefully they don't rush him back at all and let him full recover 110% with this injury.

It wouldn't have happened if he didn't take an inverted fluky slide and got hit in the worst possible place. It was, honestly, a fluky injury. That said, management of the recovery of this fluky injury was dogshit.

The part I'll never understand is that with Cousins you still have a shot at winning this game, after the 1st Qtr you could see RG3 was struggling with his accuracy and needed for his own sake (and the team's chance that game) to come out. I hope he makes a full recovery and I hope his coach grows a brain and a pair so as to not risk losing him again..

He didn't slide. That's the problem

In all fairness, I think ICF has generally liked RG3 and given him props when and where deserved--his criticisms have been that he runs like an idiot for the NFL and the shame of it all is that if he refuses to adjust his career will be very short. (AMDZen is the guy that simply hates RG3 for no explicable reason--to which he has freely admitted).

He does seem to not be willing to adjust, judging by his play against Seattle.

As a Seahawks fan I've been watching Wilson all year. He is not a running quarterback, he is a quarterback who can run. He is extremely conservative and rarely takes hits outside the pocket (the Washington game he seemed much more aggressive, playoff football I guess)

That game was my first one watching RG3 a lot. Even with his knee brace, he was letting himself get banged around all over. He was letting his knees and legs get taken out from underneath him. My first thought was that he plays recklessly and it is a weakness in his game because he's going to get himself hurt. And the worst part is it was sort of pointless recklessness--not to get the first down, not to get in the end zone, he'd take hits just to get an extra yard here or there when he was obviously going down anyway.

It's really a shame because he's such a great player and we aren't going to have him around to watch on Sundays much longer if he doesn't make a simple adjustment to his game

MSNBC is reporting that he has complete tears to both his ACL and LCL and is undergoing reconstructive surgery starting at 7 AM today. They estimate a recovery of 6 to 8 months.

And the Deadskins wasted another draft pick. Nothing new from Danny Boy, it's his M-0. Next move? Offer money to get Favre or Warner back out of retirement, or hire another washed up veteran for a long term contract. To hell with an offensive line.

first quarter? think you either got your quarters mixed up or didn't watch the game. he marched down the field and scored 2 td's at will. it was the play before his 2nd td pass that he reinjured it though, and from there on out it was clear something was wrong. my wife keeps telling me 'i dont even know much about football but even i know they should have put cousins in'.

having both his acl and lcl totally reconstructed with 6-12 month recovery period. hope that whenever he comes back, that he is 110% fine.

I went to most of the Badger games last year so I got to see Wilson play a bit. He's not running as much in the NFL as he did here at Wisco. Wilson is also built like a tank; he and RG3 weigh about the same, but Wilson is at least 3", possibly 4" shorter.

He also has a hidden 6th gear.

On the playoff game, the one play marshawn lynch ran, Wilson somehow ran so fast it caught me by surprise as he ran by lynch trying to find a block to make, the block wasn't much, but it did throw the DB enough off balance to allow lynch the extra yard or so to bowl into the endzone

Actually Eagles, so it should start making a lot more sense now... I like the Ravens too, their fans embody the same mentality as Philly but not my fav team. Ray Lewis is easily one of my fav players of all time alongside The Minister of Defense.

PS: Andy Reid > any Shanahan any day of the week. Good luck riding the train of Shanahan Suck (including this years mismngmnt of RGIII) for 5 more years, even with your multiple top 5 1st round draft picks that barely got you to the playoffs this year. And yes, I'm well aware that Philly sucks now that Reid is gone, but someone had to take the fall. Philly fans/media are impatient and unforgiving.

I've watched the last 2 or 3 Redskins game and I have not seen any evidence that their offensive line is atrocious. The last ranking I saw had them #12 overall IIRC.

Want to see a bad line? Watch a replay of the Colts against the Ravens.

Can't be that bad to win as many games as they have and to allow luck to throw as many passes as he had.

Not amazing by any standard, but the colts line was mediocre, if you compare it to some of the... other "teams" out there. If you can still call the chiefs, jaguars and etc. teams.
