PM is a very nice investment if you are a foreign investor. why? because only about 5% of their dividend is consider taxable. normal tax is 30% unless you are qualify for treaty rate.

Consideration for these investments will be under a tax exempt account.

Markets are finally going down it looks. One of my EX-holdings is MAS. Down 13% today on bad earnings. Will rebuy under $10 somewhere.

The "value" instructor I'm following says BlackBerry is dead. :hmm:

Instructor: "There will never be a BlackBerry app. Why? Because it's a dead technology walking. We're not writing apps for technology which is not going to be here in 5 years."

To be fair, he did say he's been a fan of Apple before it became "cool" to be one(after the iPod release and beyond)...Meaning he's been using Apple since the 80's.
He also admitted that his bias on Apple made him miss out Microsoft which he had been valuing every year since it's IPO.

some company ... some numbers (in millions):
debt: $0,000
current assets: $7,202
total assets: $14,037
total liabilities: $3,840
shareholder equity: 10,197
FCF(ttm): $1,850

Market cap: $8,000

If these numbers don't even prompt one to want to research the comapny they belong to, that is fine. All the counter arguments to buying are statements I have already heard. And 100% of them are USA specific. I need to read more about the global aspects of this certain company but initially, it seems like on a global scale, this certain company is far from dead.

PS: It's no secret what company I am talking about.

I'm not actually in his class, but since I'm following him online I may decide to make RIMM by "personal" project for both this instructor and myself.
He wants us(err..."them" rather) to do a valuation analysis on different types of security issues and make a simple "Buy" or "Sell" recommendation.
No "Strong buy", no "Holds", no "Strong sell", and such. Just simple buy or sell.

Day trading fun with BAC... If only I held 5 minutes longer than the 5 I held it for. Should stop, but I'm getting so damn impatient.

Okay, 85% cash. Sending money back into that grocery store, which is pretty near 52-week lows.

I recommend people take a look at EA. They're REALLY close to 52wk low but there's no reason to think they'll be there for long. I will be increasing my position on a dip. NVDA is having earnings tomorrow, so that may be worth checking out.

Buying EA would make me feel dirty.

Video game companies... With no in-depth analysis, off the top of my head: their sales are unreliable and dependent on churning shit out that people want to buy. It's kind of like clothing, but the brand name alone is incapable of peddling your wares. If you don't mind investing in record/CD companies, then I guess EA would be cool.

AAPL probably getting a boost from iPad3 rumours. Nice pop on March 8(?)? Thank god for Apple users that "must" get the latest version.

Pliable,

Those are RIMMs numbers. BTW: Assuming you were joking when you said those others.

Wow, Apple up about 25% in a month? Interesting.

So... All of Bloomberg's headlines point to there being problems with Greece and something about a second (next?) bailout, but markets are holding firm.

Seriously?

On another note, lulz on ZNGA and GRPN.

Yeah, I was watching ZNGA -- hoping that this would happen XD

NVDA hit $16.80 today, but I held...it is now $16.30. Well, we'll see how the earnings report goes.

You can't get emotional if you're to do well in the stock market. I hate Apple, but if I'd actually believed they'd have seen $400 and then $500 per share, I'd have bought them.
Not sure what you mean by that...There are other companies for me to choose from.
Now if you said "I'm buying Starbucks stock because I drink their coffee everyday, I'm addicted and suffering from caffeine withdrawal" without conducting any fundamental analysis, that's clearly emotional.

You haven't offered anything fundamental besides stating that EA is at a 52week low which doesn't amount to much of anything and for all we know could be a "value trap".

There's absolutely zero comparison between Apple and EA.
EA is the evil one.
I 100% disagree with their business practices. Same with Ubisoft.
You couldn't pay me to buy a share of their stock.

EA's got a lot of good IP, they're pushing ahead into the mobile space (and generating a significant percentage of their revenue from it), have a good amount of cash and not too much debt, and I think when the next generation of game consoles hits, the game publishers will see a significant boost. I picked EA over ATVI mainly because EA, I think, has been getting hit for things that I don't believe are going to be relevant to keeping the cash coming in.
