Dunan got lost because with AC running, james was able to play the entire quarter and shifted to guarding parker most of the quarter. That's why all the spurs did was pass around the edge taking yet another 3 when parker wasn't getting stripped or tossing up a brick attempting to drive through james.

Heard some more details about AC gate. Stadium knew well before the game it was down and informed league just before tip that they weren't going to be able to restore it that night. LBJ had downed over half a dozen anti-cramp pills prior to the point he started getting the severe symptoms. About the time he went out of the game for good, probe readings were well over 100F.

Funny, because the probes from ESPN were saying 90F. Get the fuck over it, your team lost.

I think one of the reasons Duncan isn't getting national criticism is nobody expects Duncan to score 35 points anymore, and he doesn't have to. A "good" Duncan game is like 18-12 and not full of highlight dunks or turn around jumpers. He is money on high percentage shots and doesn't dunk much, of course people are going to ignore him.

We will see what happens tonight. I am hoping it is a good game, but I think SA will struggle on the road. Miami may have secured the series by winning game 2.

Exactly, guy is 38 years old, and it's to his credit that he doesn't really look his age out there. But it's understandable that he could be tired at the end of the game, and when you're tired, your motor control degrades a little bit. That's why pitchers lose effectiveness later in baseball games. They can still toss 90+ MPH but they lose that pinpoint control, and either leave pitches out over the plate or miss the strike zone.

Miami should have a big advantage later in these games, the puzzling piece is Wade, why this 32 year old guy is playing like garbage is kind of hard to understand. LeBron will do his thing, but he can't carry the whole load. Wade needs to step up and Bosh needs to continue playing well, if not, SA could easily take a game in Miami.

Actually you dumbshit, it is ESPN saying it was reading close to 105, they just didn't have a chance to discuss the readings anymore because of everything happening over the last couple of minutes of the game.

Try harder next time.

Was reading a bit about Fisher's signing to NYK and the inevitable comparisons to Kerr - I think I would prefer Fisher. I just don't see Kerr as a "leader of men" sort, he might have the technical or analytical chops to call good plays/make good subs/etc, but I don't know if his personality will really suit coaching.

Why don't you ask Burke dickcheese since she said it, and coincidentally was the one with the probe.

Yeah, you're just talking out your ass. She said, when Lebron went out with the final cramp, it was 90F. Now you're just making shit up.

Totally agree. Fisher clearly has the strongest track record of leadership, including his union player rep leadership. Kerr has a strong basketball mind, but to be a great coach, you've got to have an effective non-verbal stare-down, and Kerr does not have this.

I don't think Spoelstra could stare down a chipmunk. But he seems to have the respect of the players for his technical ability.

I'd still give Kerr a chance. I think Fisher will be better, but Kerr won't do awful IMO.

Why did Fisher get 5/25 though? That seems like a huge deal for someone with literally zero coaching experience.

There are probably a host of reasons, but it can't be understated just how stupid the Knicks front office has been over the past decade and change. David Stern, the man who fined people for speaking poorly of anything in the league, said the Knicks were "not a model of intelligent management." How bad do you have to be to get Stern to do that?

Phil Jackson really likes him? I don't know. He does have experience leading players (Player's Association work), so I suppose that makes him more valuable than someone with no experience? I have no idea.

Roger Mason Jr. currently holds a leadership position in the Player's Association. Pretty sure that doesn't mean a thing when it comes to being a coach.

I'm having a hard time deciding who I want to lose. On the one hand, I hate the heat more than I hate the spurs. I absolutely do not want the Heat to get a 3peat. I'm not so much against LBJ getting a 3rd ring, but I definitely don't want Dumbasswyane Wade to get another one.

On the other hand, when Spurs lose, I get to watch Dougp pop a vein and start cussing out every person on this forum. I'm surprised he hasn't gotten his yearly NBA playoff ban hammer yet.

The standard NBA head coaching contract is 4 years these days. IMO the standard rate for a non-premier head coach is $4M per season (see Mike Brown, Mike D'Antoni, etc.). Steve Kerr and Fish both have the PJ stamp of approval, and now work in large media markets so they got a premium in both the annual salary and term.

I agree with you that it's kinda outrageous to dole out $25M guaranteed without knowing what Kerr or Fish can do, but it's really not that wild compared to NBA norms. Plus comparatively speaking, that $25M still pales in comparison to the roughly $400M in player salaries that will be doled out over the same time period.

Ironically, sometimes the guys with credible experience are not that enticing anymore. A few years ago, MDA was considered a very good head coach. And so was Mike Brown. Now, both guys are virtually un-hireable (doesn't mean some GM won't do it, just the perceptions are drastically different). Mike Brown in particular has been exposed as a fraud (and some of us knew this): he rode LeBron's coattails for years but added little to the Cavs success personally.

Even then, she said it was by estimate. Let's be honest, I don't give a shit - you're looking to bait me and get a rise, and you won't get it. Your team lost, move the fuck on and deal with it. They won the next game, and while Blackjack is going to quote my references to some bullshit calls, I never once actually blamed the refs. I blame the missed free throws and shitty execution in the 4th quarter.
